The title should be "Akiba Maid War" not Wars

Yep, everyone should at least check out Akiba Maid War. It currently is my favorite Fall show.

Bacon your pardon, but I noticed that you maid a grammar mistake (in an otherwise excellent article):
Quote: | Tell me, does that chainsaw dude where a pig-maid outfit? |
“Where” should be “wear.” I’m not trying to be pignacious or anything, but you don’t want a little detail like that to detract from your great pork, ahem, writing chops.
EDIT: Aw man, now you've gone and fixed the mistake, which makes it seem like it was just a pigment of my imagination. No worries though... it hams to the best of us.

The bit where the Manager and Okachimachi were going to sleep and might be about to die is a Dog of Flanders reference.

Definitely the surprise of this fall. I didn't expect to like this show as much as I do so far.

Enjoying it but I do wish Nagomi was a bit more developed. If we compare it to black lagoon, Rock had a much better reason to stick around and felt more like a real character that was adapting to his new reality, Nagomi just seems like she's still in her first week.
Also damn you for reminding me that there's no Teppu anime!

I agree that her character could be more developed, but I'm also pretty sure that her ridiculous perpetually naive perspective is meant to be a source of the comedy here. Also, Akiba Maid War and Black Lagoon are pretty different shows, despite their shared over-the-top action and fish-out-of-water main characters. For one thing, Rock isn't in control of the circumstances leading him to being stuck in Roanapur, and if I recall correctly he at one point even wonders if he's suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. Nagomi seems to have plenty of opportunities to "escape" and just as she realizes this she somehow ends up being roped back into the café's crazy antics only to decide by episode's end that she values the other maids after all despite the insanity and bloodshed. It's like a comic riff on the famous "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" line from The Godfather. It's true though that both characters seem to learn the value of friendship (and firepower) while "adapting" to their "new reality" by narrowly escaping death time and again.

The birthday episode made me cry a bit. These characters are the sweetest murderers in all of anime.

Bold claim while Witch From Mercury prologue exists in the same season no less.
