Oh its sponsored by Bleach, I wonder if it'll be like when it was sponsored by Yashahime (S2 maybe)? and most review of it where middling to negative.
Anyway, glad a new season is rolling out cause ooooff summer season was rough.

So far I’ve seen I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss and My Master Has No Tail, both of which I was already excited for. They’re both awesome so far! Villainess is very fun and the lead couple is great, and Master is cute and Episode 1 had some nice emotional beats for our MC.
As I’ve said before, my biggest hype for the season is Bibliophile Princess and I can’t wait.

While I did enjoy the episode overall, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the rakugo performance in My Master Has No Tail was bad. I was wondering if my only other exposures to rakugo (Rakugo Shinjuu and Akane-banashi) was making me a bit prejudiced against this show’s much more casual take on something the other two approached much more in depth and dramatically. So I feel a bit better knowing it wasn’t just me. I was especially bothered she didn’t seem to be changing her voice at all between characters.

I'm enjoying the manga for My master has no tail, but, like most of the reviewers, this premier episode struck me as merely okay. I thought the post-credit explanation was almost cringe-worthy.
On the other hand, the thing that bothers me the most about the manga is how poorly it handles the actual rakugo. The presentation in the manga doesn't even try to convey much of the story, and the post-chapter explanations are little help. The manga, for me, is more about the characters and the setting, than the actual rakugo performances.

I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss looks like it will be a fun romantic romp. Aileen is the anti-Bakarina: she's smart, knows what's going on, and has retained her original manipulative personality. She's still a sympathetic character despite her keeping all of her ostensibly villain-ish traits.
I'm looking forward to it being my junk-food comfort show for the season, along with the very silly (I hope) Eminence in Shadow.

Quote: | Kanade is essentially throwing herself head-first into the trope that women really secretly want to be dominated by men. Am I overthinking this? |
I don't think so at all, its far from the first isekai show about male lead getting a slave girl (with the ribbon that the girl willingly become his slave). And I literally cannot think of a single instance where the slave wasn't a girl (disgustingly they also often tend toward the loli side).
Honestly these "I got kicked out of the main party despite being incredibly overpowered and everybody is mean to me even if I'm being super nice" are probably the type of anime I find the most deplorable and sickening. It really speaks of the writer as someone who's probably really not a nice person but refuse to accept it, and think everybody who criticize him are just out to get him because they're all mean people. That it's often combined with the aforementioned slave girl tropes is not a surprise at all.

I recall a manga (adapting a light novel) where a female alchemist (not isekai'd, more time displaced) bought a male slave. Don't remember the name, and it's literally the only series I can think of that genderswaps the slave role.

That sounds right, unless there's a second one that has a time-displaced alchemist heroine who buys a male slave.

As I have said in another forum before: so far I've started 2 shows but I'm only keeping up with one of them.
The loser is Sword Daddy Isekai, of which I liked the trailer very much, and there's nothing wrong here animation-wise, but the story is just not for me. It happens.
And the winner is Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, of which I've only seen the prologue so far, but I'm sold. It's a shame that the 1st episode has been delayed by 1 week, but I hope they'll be able to keep but with the quality, both animation and story-wise. I'm not entirely new to the Gundam franshise, but I skipped on it for a few years, so it's time for a comeback.
But besides that, probably only YamaSusu S4, Bocchi the Rock, Chainsaw Man and Do It Yourself - depending on the format - interests me that much that I'll end up actually following them and maybe To Your Eternity S2 will get on that list as well and being hopeful that we won't get another Jananda. We'll see about the rest.
EDIT: so far I've heard the delay doesn't affect CR and TBS, only their Youtube and other channel releases somehow. Sounds weird. But still a RIP to our Asian friends

This was my only major issue with My Master Has No Tail, hopefully our little tanuki can provide a better performance when she starts taking the stage. I'm still excited for the show though, because it's bringing the other major school of rakugo to the screen, and I've been curious about it since it popped up briefly in Rakugo Shinju.
I've enjoyed both episodes of I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss so far. I think I like the setup on this one better than My Next Life as a Villainess, but apart from the odd flourish here and there, it hasn't felt as polished. If the art's really that much better, I might jump into the manga, but for now I'm definitely sticking around.
Raven of the Inner Palace was pretty good just by virtue of leaving me invested in seeing the rest of this little story, and not immediately bouncing completely off of it like I end up doing with most historical (not-)Chinese fiction I've tried. Got some xxxHOLiC vibes from Shouxue's initial scene too, which I don't mind.
Beast Tamer gets points for not being an isekai or showing a single stats screen, but that eagerness to contract is Really Weird. If they'd given even a half-assed justification for why she would be so eager to form it, things would be a lot more palatable, but nope, she just wants to see if he can ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Prospects grim.
On the returning front, welcome back My Hero Academia and Spy X Family, you're both in fine form.
Six down, 25-ish to go on my list. What a monster of a season coming in.

Watching the second half of Bastard, now at the last episode, I'm still wondering who is the main villain? Because I [expletive] refuse to believe this douchebag named Abigail is the main villain.

The person who wrote Beast Tamer has never played an RPG or a TTRPG if they think beast tamer is a terrible class. Such mediocre writing all around on that first episode. So aggravating.
These fantasy manga/light novel authors are getting worse and worse with just the weakest reasons to start a story.
