I really wish someone at Bandai would put the brakes on these sorts of spin-off series. The characters are just mind-bogglingly silly. Hard pass.

I mean, they did? Since Turn A in 1999, they were putting out new AUs in two years or less, with the last two, G-reco and IBO, running almost back-to-back; now it's been ~5 years between the end of IBO and this new series.

Relative to which franchise because the user you're quoting seems to have a hard-on for UC but fails to realize Zeta, ZZ and Narrative all exist.
Also all we have for this series is concept art and names for the mechs and main character.
Can't really say much about how silly they are from that alone.

You might be thinking of Cucuruz No Doan which isn't really a reboot movie. It's a retelling of the since removed from history episode 15 of the original 0079. It was a fairly good film that expanded on that episode and removed the comical nature of the animation that made Tomino despise and blacklist future airings of the original print.

Yeah, good luck with that. This series is planned to be the new UC/CE expanded universe.
