I guess Naoko Yamada is making her new home at Science SARU. Wondering how this will be, I still haven't seen Heike Monogatari yet

I do very much recommend it, it's very good and very Yamada-esque. Though a bit dense at times with historical detail (Coming from someone who's already a history buff). Anyways, looking forward to this. A Silent Voice catapulted Yamada up my favorites list and her work at Science Saru thus far has kept her up there. |

Still wondering why she stopped working at Kyoto Animation. I absolutely loved the work she did over there. I wouldn't have a Yui Hirasawa tattoo if I thought otherwise.

Lovely Summer Chan makes some pretty chill indie rock so
I’m excited to hear their work on a full soundtrack. |

Heike was the hidden gem of last year in my opinion so I'm definitely looking forward to more Yamada at Saru (although I'd prefer if Saru improved their working conditions first...).
A lot of former KyoAni staff have left the studio after the arson attack. Many of them lost close friends and longtime co-workers, so my guess is that they wanted to process that trauma somewhere that doesn't actively remind them of it. Yamada's now freelance although she seems to gravitate towards Saru, Haruka Fujita showed up on Akebi OP last season and is likely freelance as well, Akiko Takase reportedly left the industry entirely for a while, and so on. |

I remember reading about this a few weeks ago though without the title. Crazy how things leak. Sounds interesting and definitely has a lot of power behind it

I'm really looking forward to this one, it has me intrigued!
I also very much recommend Heike monogatari, it's really a gem. It has its flaws* but on the whole it's a lovely show, and visually it's just stunning, from creative vision to actual animation and symbolism, the way it conveys everything from characterization to emotions. A viewer could almost understand what's going on just by looking at the visuals alone. Absolutely gorgeous, well worth checking out. *Although, in my opinion, it's not as flawed, by far, as some people say - like those who claim it's a "travesty" because it's not a direct adaptation. My mind boggled every time I saw those complaints. |

After Heike Monogatari, I find myself keeping an eye more on both Science SARU and Naoko Yamada news. When I saw the headline I was so giddy.... only to find out it will be a short. Aaaah can't wait for their next collaboration

Its existence didn't leak in an unofficial way: it's just that, with the official unveiling of the project being this work-in-progress presentation at Annecy, the presentation had to be announced along with the others in advance of the festival so that people could know about it to book for it. |
