It truly is the end of an era. Funimation was a dominant force in anime for years, and the fact that Sony has decided to phase out the brand is very disappointing. They could have at least kept the Funimation label for legacy titles like Dragon Ball Z.That said, hopefully Sony will come up with some sort of deal where anime fans will get free Crunchyroll for life just for buying a Sony product (i.e. the PS5, the Bravia TV set, or any pair of their noise cancelling headphones).

Huh. They’re going to eventually even retire the Funimation branding on home video releases? Makes sense for consistency, but I would have thought they’d keep it for their physical releases.

I am still looking for the current season on CR from Funimation, so sign of it yet. I guess I keep paying for Funimation until then.

So...from what I read... they eventually plan to move Home Video to CR... so that means that CR will be handling the physical releases of BDs?

Yesterday I checked the dubbed version of a fanservice Funimation title on Crunchyroll, and it is censored. I hope CR uploads the existing uncut/uncensored versions soon. I would be happy with the rebranding as long as the player works well, BD's continue to be offered and there is no intentional censorship.

What about their live action films, like Kenshin or Attack on Titan? That's what I'm really concerned about the most.

I actually subscribed to Funimation last week to binge Funimation's exclusive Winter 2022 shows, as I don't think they're on the list yet, maybe by the end of their runs. I also have Dragon Ball to finally watch and it's not on Crunchyroll yet besides Crunchyroll's sub of Dragon Ball Super.

Does this mean
Crunchyroll will now hardly or never use dubbing studios in LA region
For their Main upcoming popular shows to be announced for later seasons 2022

Will there be two main Headquarters for Crunchyroll LLC
As one in the San Francisco and
another one in the Coppell

Or one will move on !!

And Will there be different dubbing studio in San Francisco for
LA voice actors

If you see their Job Hiring section [ Production Operation] for The Voice Over Industry
See
1. https://boards.greenhouse.io/crunchyroll/jobs/3944968?gh_jid=3944968
2. https://boards.greenhouse.io/crunchyroll/jobs/4010358?gh_jid=4010358
3. https://boards.greenhouse.io/crunchyroll/jobs/3701372?gh_jid=3701372

All of the position are for Texas region only
I mean atleast set additional Talent Cordinator in California

No, just that the branding (packaging, logos, etc) will change to Crunchyroll rather than Funimation's. That's largely what this whole "merger" is - combining everything under Crunchyroll's name/logo/branding and moving all the video content they can onto a single website. It'd be a pretty crazy move to get rid of Funimation's much better established/experienced team for home video, dubs, etc. Not to mention expensive.

Which I think is incredibly stupid. They should at least keep the Funimation branding for legacy titles like Dragon Ball Z and YuYu Hakusho. Those are the two shows that put the company on the map.

Personally, I think killing off the FUNimation name entirely, even for home video, is the dumbest thing they could do. No, it more than likely won't hurt Crunchyroll in the long term, but talk about screwing up what should be the easiest lay up possible.

While it sucked that Geneon & Bandai Entertainment were both closed down by their owners, it can at least be argued that the decision was made because neither were no longer "cutting the mustard", so to speak. FUNimation, though, is by far the #1 company when it comes to anime on home video (take personal feelings out of this, because you know this is true), with maybe Viz being a close second. What sense is there in killing off the top dog, one that has real name recognition (even outside of the anime bubble, to an extent), and replacing it completely with Crunchyroll, a name that has barely any real recognition in home video, outside of being something you see on the spine next to other companies, and those who do remember Crunchy's past with home video all know that it was, at best, inconsistent.

I get wanting everything under a single umbrella, but not keeping FUNimation as the home video label, not even a "FUNimation, by Crunchyroll" type of thing, is honestly a dumb move. The rep's answer definitely had a bit of a "protecting our butts" feel to it, too, like a "just in case this gets too bad of a reception, we can reverse it".

That company no longer exists, so why not? It's not like FUNimation made either other them. They both existed long before FUNimation did.

Will Crunchyroll upload the home video versions of catalog shows for streaming, as Funimation's streams have done for some titles in the past?

The spokesman said that the titles will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, either for possible home video launches or for streaming.

Basically, don't expect uncut releases going forward. That's not encouraging at all.
