Geezus, lot of big names for a typical isekai...
I mean, the premise and whatnot was funny but it still hits the typical isekai tropes hard.

What a cast! With all due respect, I see some very interesting characters that have gotten my attention and more interested in watching this.

Are they already making things up? Zeta and Eta haven't even had their drawings revealed in the novel yet, I just hope it's not a filler indication.

Most seiyu don't care about the type of anime they are in, or what kind of roles they have.
They know very well that if they are choosy, there is only countless more people who could replace them easily.
That is especially true when one gets older, and can consider themselves lucky if they retain some of their old roles.

I love the idea of a delusional chuunibyo actually going beyond human limitations ("I am the nuke!"). I hope the adaptation pushes the tropes up to 11 and goes down the One Punch Man route with ridiculously violent fight scenes and crazy sakuga.

That's a lot of top tier female seiyuu.

Not familiar with this, but the character designs look good, so I'll keep it on my radar

Mimorin as one of my fave girls... Nice nice nice.
Epsilon is also one of my faves but I don't like Kanemoto so u_u Sad.
Wonder where the designs for Zeta and Eta come from if, like Changeman said, they haven't had illustration debuts yet. Also wondering just how much the anime will adapt if they're including them. I'm up to the fourth novel (which apparently hasn't come out in Japan yet anyway) and neither character has done anything. Does this mean they're working off of the web novel version? I don't know what it's like so I don't know how much further it is than the novels (I'm pretty sure the author said one of the published books would be new content rather than just a rework of the web novel... I forget if that was book 3 or 4)

If I had to guess (and I've only read to the current English release), they will probably only appear in flashbacks to show who the rest of the named shades are (if I recall right the rest of them - near a hundred or so - go by numbers instead) so they probably only have one or two lines total each.
We will mostly only see Beta and Gamma anyways. Despite being the first to appear Alpha doesn't show up that much in comparison to them, and the hilarious Delta only shows up around halfway through volume 2 I think.

Delta is a fan favorite. If that lovable ultraviolent whackadoodle shows up early in the adaptation I would not be surprised.

The character designs aren't to shabby maybe I'll check the anime out when it drops.

Hmm, true, might be in flashbacks or establishing shots. Still seems odd though.
Yeah the later members are just numbers like 0512 or whatever I believe.

Not that I’ve checked the LNs to confirm whether or not that have been pictured but this happens all the time in anime/manga because the illustrations in LNs are limited but they can’t exactly just leave a blank space where the characters were written into scenes.
This is from the afterword for the second volume of the Akashic Bastard manga for example:
Quote: | This is a behind-the-scenes discussion, but I talked with Hitsuji-sensei and Mishima-sensei (since they made the original light novels) about how Gene and Carell (the two characters pictured in this afterword) look, but other than a few key points they gave me for the characters, they were nice enough to give me the freedom to leave the rest of their design to my imagination. So presumptuous as it may be, I used the light novels as a reference and made up the rest. These two characters were never shown in any of the insert images in the light novels, but I'm sure those of you who have read the original light novels have envisioned them in your own way, so I hope that my illustrations align with what you imagined, if even just a little, and that they're to your liking! Of course, I hope you readers who haven't read the original light novels also enjoy them! |
Semi-related, but the Death March author wrote on the webnovel site (which was still ongoing at the time) about having to think up names for characters like the innkeeper who hadn’t been named in the novels (since character names pop up on screen so they need to have them) and some of those names even make it back into later chapters of the WN.
