So this'll be either a campy sarcastic throwback or a serious, updated version.

Either way I can't say I'm looking forward to this; not because I think "HOLLYWOOD WILL SCREW IT UP ARGH NERD RAGE" or anything, I just never really cared much for Speed Racer.

There is NO drifting in Gran Prix racing. Take your drifting, and file it in your gas mask ( drifting smoke is also cancerous, and drifting should be banned everywhere. )

I hope they had the resources to capture some racing action to make it a great movie like Gran Prix

I'm mostly interested in the cast.

“Speed Racer” is being written and directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski, marking the brothers' first writing/directing collaboration since their groundbreaking “Matrix” movies. The film is being produced by Joel Silver under his Silver Pictures banner.

I thought their last writing/directing collaboration was V For Vendetta, wasn't it?

They were producers on V for Vendetta; director was whoever the first unit guy was on The Matrix movies.

I'm glad to see this. it seems like a lot of old tv shows are being made into movies. They should tottaly do a live action Rainbow Brite. Smile

Ah, good. So they moved Speed Racer up to avoid direct competition with Indiana Jones 4. Smart move, as it would have gotten killed at the box office by Indy, had they both released the same weekend.

According to Anime News Service and Dark Horizons, one of the actors from High School Musical might be Speed. Rolling Eyes Here's some payback if he gets selected. Laughing

Oh god, tell me you're not being serious there. You've obviously never seen Rainbow Brite And The San Diego Zoo Adventure.

So an early review suggests the movie is a mess.

Ain't it Cool, bastion of reliable and trustworthy workprint reviews

Edit: also that's a positive review Gatsu, he said he liked it. Are you just saying the opposite of the truth now to back you up in your endless negativity?

So please explain how that review indicates the film is a "mess".
