I love Del Rey, but this is a huge "pass."

No...
I have never heard Avril Lavigne mention anything about liking anime or manga.
I understand doing things for money, that's an easy reason. But sometimes those money decisions still boggle the mind. I would have NEVER thought to pair up Avril with this. Not in a hundred years. So maybe in 2107.

Oh, Del Rey, how you wound me so... Rolling Eyes I thought manga companies learned not to push this type of stuff (coughTokyopopcough). I may read this, though, if it's well presented and has a good plot.

Wow, and just when I thought I couldnt dislike Avril even more...

"she meets her HERO, Avril Lavigne..."

Yep, nothing like a bit of ego stroking there. Honestly. Even Princess Ai wasnt this bad. (at least she wasnt actually Courtney Love, just based on her)

I gotta wonder why anime fans even bother to comment on something like this. It is so obviously not aimed at anyone who even remotely considers themselves to be a big manga fan - this is mass-market stuff for casual buyers.

I think of it more as an opportunity to get some of your every day pre-teen/teenage girls to appreciate manga. Probably won't happen in a very large scale, but hey, it's worth a try.

Funny how everyone else is crying bloody murder.

That's what irks me about it, she says so many of her fans are 'big manga fans' so this is something they'll definitley like. ...also, how does she know this, anyway?

Eh, it doesnt really concern me except when people call it manga (pronouncing it maynga' when it isnt really... beh, I'll just laugh at it from afar...

Lately I've been calling all of the manga-inspired comics that don't come from Japan "mangoes." It's just more convenient to not have to worry about offending the guys who get riled up over terms like "Original English Language manga" and "Amerimanga," and it always gets a laugh out of people when I call them that. (The other alternative is to just call them comics, but some folks don't appreciate that either...)

I'm sure she'd be upset by that.

Dear God.
Anyway how a demon + meeting your fave singer = good things I don't know. How it goes beyond 1 volume is a whole other question.

They were just talking about this on the news story of about Del Ray titles

haha. I love how amazing the encyclopedia is to have none of these titles.

My Heavenly Hockey Club has existed for a long while. I myself have submitted each and every bit of information. The other four, however, have never been submitted by anyone.

(manga:Alive, Dragon Eye, Make 5 Wishes, My Heavenly Hockey Club, Reformed)

Next thing we know Reformed is going to be about Eddie Murphy going super sayian.
Just wait.

I support this 100%. May I borrow your term?

It could be worse.
But whatever; not really a big deal, just slightly amusing. If they want to try to cash in on some tweenypopper's fanbase, so be it. I'm sure Hot Topic will be keen to get an exclusivity deal.

So why, as one of the staff of ANN, did the collective ANN even bother to print the Press Release anyway? Thats what boggles the mind.

This makes slightly more sense than the first time I ever heard about Princess Ai. At least Avril Lavigne still has an accountable fanbase. The whole "brought to you by Courtney Love!" thing was just just confusing.
