That is crazy! It cannot be within his budget if he hasn't truly been keeping track. Yikes. Either that or he's super rich and it doesn't matter.

(Btw, the article links to ANN's One Room info page in a place I think was unintentional, in the first few paragraphs)

What serious collector hasn't uttered this or something similar at least once..?

I remember I used to keep a running tally of how much I've spent on my hobby, only to decide to drop it years later when the total began to scare me.

@Juno016 - Although the article mentions that he didn't start to collect until the past few years, with some of these collectors, they could have been collecting for decades. Prices were probably a lot cheaper in the 90s as more arcades closed as home consoles became easier and cheaper to own. So what was maybe a reasonably priced hobby has become expensive and now people just choose to collect what they can afford when they can afford it.

That guy is living the life. Actually that was one of my dreams when I was young.

Well, he certainly doesn't have to go out for entertainment anymore. If I won the lottery there are certainly worse things to blow all the money on.

Guy has good taste. I also have an Afterburner upright cab. The thing is heavy, and I have had to move it up and down basement steps.. lol.

I can tell you that importing bulky items overseas is $$. I've been looking for a cabinet for my Banpresto SDF Macross board. I keep missing the deals that randomly pop up in the US.

Man - this guy should get his arcade featured on Game Center CX, seriously impressive collection of machines and memorabilia.
