I hope this isn't a sign, especially since Tsubasa Vol. 11 was released very recently. Unfortunately, for me, my local Waldenbooks hasn't gotten any of the November releases in yet (save for Tsubasa and Genshiken), and I got lucky finding Death Note Vol. 8 at another store. I don't know if this is simply my local Waldenbooks not getting books, or if it's something bigger.

I wouldn't start worrying yet. Manga has consistently been dominating for a while, there's going to be a breather period where people just stop buying as much as they had been.

Companies have been shipping late recently and the holiday shopping season is well underway for many people, so some may be holding back on purchases for themselves while they buy up expensive knick-nacks for others.

If this becomes a trend, repeating for several weeks, then I'd start worrying.

I think you're thinking of Bookscan's "Graphic Novel" list when it comes to manga dominating.

The USA Today Booklist is a single list that tracks all books. Manga has made inroads into the list, with the aforementioned Naruto volume reaching the all-time high for a manga (not even in the top 20).

Regardless, your statement about not worrying yet is still right on the money IMHO.

Personnaly, I view this as a good thing that Manga never goes to far on the Book list. Not that manga is not good. However, graphic novels really shouldn't replace novels. Graphic novels have wonderful art but what it comes down to is dialogue. Novels have to create a full world which can lead to something more beautiful and complex than any artist could hope to acheive. Also I would be concerned If a manga ever reached the top 10, the same way I would be concerned If any DC or Marvel comic were to reach such a level.

Embarassed Yeah, you're right. My eyes read one thing and my brain read something else.

Well it's not like any new Naruto or Fruits Basket volumes came out within the last month

Actually I didn't find any new Viz releases when I went last week which is weird since they usually would've been in stores weeks ago.
