I love this!

The visual novel community has so many gatekeepers and elitists that I love seeing silly games like this that will bring more people into the community and rile them up.

Let's face it: most people who are going to hate on this already hate on every OELVN in the first place so it changes nothing for them.

Hard pass. Gotta agree with this tweet: https://twitter.com/mrfeelswildride/status/1171485280542457857

the 'ironic dating sim' trend is just another example of beating on/mocking the genres most popular with people other than the stereotypical game consumer from the exact same people who constantly bloviate about games needing to cater to more than that

I'm pretty sick of ironic meme marketing from big corporations in general.

I am disappointed that they didn't have a *** in front of licking in the title.

There's an amazing opportunity for a crossover here with Hatoful Boyfriend.

It's only a matter of time before Wendy's gets her own dating sim.

So you want these to exist just because you want people to get angry? That's pretty petty.

They hate on "OELVN" because most are garbage cash-grabs with no heart of effort put into them. Most, not all. Katawa Shoujo and DDLC being prime examples of good ones.

There is real harm to the genre by games like this. It really depends how far they take the joke and how much effort they put into making a truly amazing story.

I would find this unbelievable but after seeing Hatoful Boyfriend and finding out this morning that we are living in a world where an actual anime character is going to be a V-Tuber, it isn't so weird.

Unfortunately, it seems to be extremely effective on young people, who are increasingly wising up to traditional forms of advertising. So we can expect to see more of this type of weird moneymaking meme going forward.

This might be based on Hatoful Boyfriend in some sense, but mainly it's part of the new trend in advertising where you just do something random and bizarre to get people's attention, then slap your brand on it. Usually the ad says basically nothing about the actual product (dating sims don't have much connection to fried chicken), bypassing the need to convince you it's good; it's all about making you remember their brand more readily. Most TV ads these days use a similar tactic.

Hard pass. I’m sick of companies trying to appeal to otaku (Arby’s food art comes to mind).

I'm going to have to pass on this too, but not because I'm sick of the ironic dating sim trend. No, it's because Col. Harland Sanders was a real person who only died 39 years ago. KFC already went too far when they resurrected him as a "character" for their commercials, but this? This is just pissing on the man's grave.

Saw this on ABC World News Now early this morning. That was a little surreal...
