I guess this is bearing the fruit of Aniplex and Funimation both being subsidiaries of Sony.

I knew the movie would eventually get a theatrical release in the West at some point considering how popular the anime is, but I'm still kind of surprised they're not dubbing it. [/quote]

If something is not dubbed I assume it is not that popular. But with Funimation involved the movie at least might get dubbed.

It's more because aniplex only dubs very highly rated shows and even then it's a crapshoot (irregular at magic high school anyone?). Its an aniplex show that funimation is just helping to distribute I hope it does get a dub though. Aniplex and funimation may be on opposite ends of the family tree now but things always seemed to be better when they worked together back then.

If the film had an English dub their would be a good chance I would buy tickets to see it. I didn't buy tickets for "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion" for the same reason.

Unfortunately you missed out on a fairly good movie with Arrow of the Orion.

Aniplex is releasing "Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai" on blu ray sub only.
So there won't be a dub of this movie,, at least anytime soon.

I wanted to see this at AX and it Sold Out before regular attendees even had a shot at the tickets.. so much for not being popular.

Bunny Girl Senpai was one of the highest-rated shows of its season, so I don't think that's the reason. I think that either Aniplex or Funimation co-partnering for this makes dubbing it require harder negotiations, or they're testing the waters with the movie and will release it (and the show) with a dub when the series comes onto home media (like what happened to Genocidal Organ).

Just an FYI, Arrow of Orion is getting a dub home release on October 22.

Apparently Aniplex took down their tweet announcing the DVD release of the series as sub-only. It might have been because there were a lot of negative comments regarding it or that they might be planning a dubbed release.

Previous funimation films releases lead me to believe this will be playing barely anywhere outside a few major cities, so I'm prepared to be disappointed.

Also, lol dubs

We're STILL having this attitude in 2019?! Sorry, but dubs have come a long way in the past 20-30 years. Nowadays dubs are as good as they can get, and on a consistent level. Preferring subs is fine, but disparaging people who like to watch dubs? No. Just no.
