I don't remember them showing Nana at AX. I wonder if Viz got it.

I'm sure Viz will announce Nana (and Ouran) at somepoint. They recently started a Shojo Beat DVD line but currently have only one title. The only other Shojo Beat titles with anime counterparts are.... Nana and Ouran.
Although its possible, however unlikely, that they would get the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne anime even though they don't have the manga. But since its older and not particularly popular, it seems pretty unlikely. |

Even with the whole Shoujo Beat line thing, for some reason I'm still under the impression that Nana would most likely be released by Geneon...
Gah, still no word on Monster in the US? And thank god that Vengeance is actually still being worked on (wait, is it finished? Because the Madhouse thing on TV said that it would be out by September) ... maybe Kawajiri will continue Ninja Scroll 2 after this? (or was that a bunch of rumors and stuff?) ALSO, I am interested in Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo... Yeah, seems like another great year for the studio |

DKL: Geneon's probably too busy bribing the record company for the ED to Paradise Kiss. I'm sure the last thing they want is more
greedy music licensor bs. Ninja Scroll 2 is also still happening, but it hasn't been confirmed when. |

But hey! At least Geneon was able to get the Radiohead theme for Ergo Proxy.
Also, since NS 2 is happening, I'll just assume that Kawajiri will go back to it after Vengeance is done. |

OH, really?
Dang, didn't know... of course, of course! Breaks are good too. Which reminds me (er... back to Kojima) So... I'm assuming that they didn't talk about Masayuki Kojima's new project either? I think it was called "A spirit of the sun," or something like that... |

Aww, no love for Kemonozume? I'd thought at least the animation quality of the series would be reel-worthy.
Also, I can't wait for Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo. It has been receiving nothing but praise and is the work of an animator I really like. The following excerpt from Anipages Daily sums up my excitement:
Check out these ratings! Hopefully more and more people hear about this film and contribute to a successful stateside release. With this, Paprika and (most of all) Tekkon, I have a lot to look forward to. |

When the novel was first released in 1967, Makoto Shinkai was not yet born (1973). |

I figure that if anyone OTHER than Viz gets it, it will be Geneon. I don't know why though, as Geneon doesn't usually do shoujo, but it seems like something they would license. I guess a lot of it is because they got Paradise Kiss, but it just seems... Geneonish, for lack of a better word. |

Actually, the logic I run on is that Geneon seems to release the vast majority of Madhouse productions here in the US... so, when it's a Madhouse production, that isn't a movie, I just think:
"Man... if they release that here, it's totally gotta go to Geneon" ... but yeah, it's usually a safe bet to think like that. But, who knows? |

dormcat: I think whoever wrote it was referring more to the style of the film and the general content... I guess he's referring to the semi-nostalgic school setting and bittersweet story in an urban/suburban setting with lots of blue skies and clouds in the summer.
But I disagree with the Shinkai comparison anyway... how many shows have that kind of subject matter? Although if Tokikake has lots and lots of lens flares, then I'd say it's more of a valid comparison... I've heard it's an awesome film though. I hope to dear god they screen it here at least once, though I suppose it's hoping in vein. Dang. I know a lot of people here who would love that sort of show (and I'm dying to watch it myself, the director is flatout amazing) It's extremely great to see that Kadokawa's CEO is hailing it as the best thing Madhouse has produced! So ironic that this is airing at the same time as Ghibli's film which is getting much worse reviews - and Hosoda *almost* worked there, too! I suppose they didn't mention Kemonozume because it's of relatively no relevance to the American audience? How many people have heard of Masaaki Yuasa anyway... he hasn't worked on other shows that many have heard of like Animatrix or whatever. |
