I just hope they don't change the voice acting. Steven Blum is da man as Onizuka!

Distribution has nothing to do with casting. It just means that Funimation will be responsible for manufacturing and distributing the releases.

What you can expect are cheaper re-releases.

Well, you guys answered my questions.

Since Marmalade Boy has been released in just the past couple of years, it made me wonder if they were going to redub it or not. From your posts...not.

Thanks for answering my question before I was able to post it! Wink

TP originally released MBoy as box set only. I'm a huge fan of the manga, but I'm sure if I want to buy a whole boxset of an anime I've never seen before for $100. However, I'm willing to invest in one DVD, to test it out. Will FUNi's rereleases be single DVDs?

OK, so they won't touch the dubs. What about the subtitles?

Don't expect Funi to make ANY changes not related to packaging and distribution methods (something you won't even notice unless these titles show up at places you buy anime that didn't carry them before),

Titles licensed to FUNimation include Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO), Marmalade Boy, Initial D and others. FUNimation plans to rework these titles with new packaging, new pricing and new configurations. The first product to release from this agreement is Street Fury Remixed, which will street on June 27 at retailers nationwide.

Something's going to be different/improved or else there will be no incentive to buy their version if you have the previous version.

A partnership with FUNimation presents a unique synergistic opportunity...
"Synergistic," ahahahaha Laughing gotta love business-speak. I don't really expect any content changes, but it would be interesting if Funimation redid the subtitles a bit. I thought it was limited to Marmalade Boy, but after seeing some GTO screenshots, it seems TokyoPop's subtitles are a bit "strange" in general, leaving in Japanese words like "yoroshiku" that are translated in pretty much any other fansub or DVD release. Either way, looks like the party's over for these series on a certain torrent site Shocked

Go on eBay.com and search for them, you can get each R1 Box Set for $20-$40 new (YES, THAT CHEAP), it's well worth it, because Marmalade Boy is a Underrated Masterpiece.

Nothing more than how they are packaged, priced and appearance. FUNimation will not change the dubs, subs, or video quality. Perhaps this also means that all of Tokyopop's anime titles will be distributed, and maybe those who are interested, Initial D 4th Stage will be licensed.

The only reason why this deal occured is because Tokyopop was too lazy to continue distributing their titles, and instead will get paid by FUNimation for distributing them.

Awww's!!! I wuv Marmalade Boy, but I hate the expensive box sets. And if this means that the boxes are now cheaper and stuff..then Awesome. Even if I never really bougght the anime technically, I rented them with Netflix. Oh well its all good tho( I'm waiting for the fourth and final box set to release at Netflix, rather than buy it).
