Muhyo and Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation is worth watching.

Yeah, take off AoT and bring in Muhyo and Roji. AoT lost its spookiness a long time ago, to me at least. XP

I hear Happy Sugar life is pretty scary. I am surprised to see it didn't make the list.

Yessssssssssssssss ♥ My precious murder psycho babieeeeees ........I am so weird. Oh and if the anime isn't scary enough for you, the manga might do the trick (isn't Zack cute?) LOL |

Agreed. IMO AoT's most horrifying moment was in the very first episode. It has been all downhill since then in terms of shock value. |

Nice to see people agree that my trio of Vampire Cuties are tops in the "invite-able" category. I would be Takahashi-sensei if I ever ran into a monster girl...

Season 5 of Yamishibai was also really good. "The Copycat" is one of my favorite stories. I'd also recommend "Kowabon", a creepy rotoscoped horror show that went overlooked.

..... if there were a write-in option, I would put either Hajime from TsukiPro's "Origins" angels and demons AU, or Dai from TsukiPro's "Night Parade of 100 Demons" AU, since his is the most monstrous (you should be seeing it in an article soon if ANN gets around to posting an article about the visuals for the second stage play).
But there isn't so I voted Mytho. Because that series is great~ |

Kitarou may skew younger, but many of its stories seem more targeted toward the adults in the audience. We've seen episodes about topics like overwork in Japanese firms and the misrepresentation of Japan's activities in World War II in schools. Even the episodes that seem more aimed at the middle-school audience have themes that would never be considered appropriate on US television. A recent installment concerned a smartphone app you could use to curse people you dislike. It opened with a hanging corpse and, later on, had a scene where one of the supporting cast was trying to hang himself as well. This all in a show that airs on Sundays at 9 am in Japan.

"Goblin Slayer" definitely has the horror angle to it. Heck, in some horror movie circles, rape is an occasional plot device.

Gotta be honest, a lot of those monster form options are kinda lame sauce, many of them not even being that monstrous, so ultimately it came down between me picking what were badass transformations and what were truly monstrous creatures.
Since this is the season of Halloween and horror I went with the latter, and picked the forms that made me go, “What the *bleep* is that?!” the most the first time I saw them. Which from this list were Envy, Tetsuo, and Alucard(about the only one to be both cool and monstrous in equal parts, a true monster form that makes you want to shout, “Badass!!!” while simultaneously crapping your pants). |
