Just like the Prisma Illya thing huh? Now if they somehow were able to release it PHYSICALLY then we could throw some money around. Too bad that won't be the case. Thanks, PonyCan

Seriously annoyed by FUNimation keeping the rights to certain series but refusing to do a physical release of them giving a huge middle finger to fans. I own the first three seasons of Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya that Sentai put out but I can't buy the physical version of the 4th season to complete my collection because FUNimation doesn't give a shit. It's actually a bit depressing since it's been over 2 years and it doesn't look like they'll ever do a physical release for those series...

Not surprising.
CR has this on steam and showed it on their Twitch marathon.

Literally pointless with how low quality these are. If these were like blu-ray rips, sure, THEN they would be worth PURCHASING. But there's no point in PURCHASING streaming-quality video.

Is there any point to this? I never buy anything from Itunes except music so I don't know if you can download the episodes to your PC. Amazon as far as I know just allows you to stream video in your browser. Well I already have Crunchyroll why would I need stream it anywhere else? Just give a Bluray that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. At the very least offer a full season set instead of 4 episodes a disc. it's like $80 a disc for series 2.

Perhaps we wouldn't be so apprehensive if offers like this were marketed as what they really are: indefinite loans.
At least in this case, Funimation wouldn't have to concede that the ordinary concept of ownership doesn't apply to what the customer pays for.

I mean... do you really think Funimation wouldn't release a blu ray if they could? They pretty much release all of their licenses on blu-ray.

i bold the parts that i was addressing
you do realize licenses expire right? (than again i guess digital licenses do too? maybe?) crunchy roll isn't going to keep those shows there forever,we've already seen this happen with some shows already.

Hey, maybe it will get a physical release eventually. Which would be nice, since i missed the chance to pick up the Blu-ray when it was still in print.

What does Ponycan have to do with this? FUNimation currently has the rights and is choosing not to put out a physical release.

Yes, because they didn't release the fourth season for a show they don't have the home rights to just to spite you.
Like someone said earlier in the thread Funi likely has the digital/streaming rights for these shows. Not the home video ones, two completely different things, so it's not up to them to release physical copies. It was the same thing with Durarara a couple of years back when Funi streamed it on their site, but Aniplex had the home video rights. Pretty sure if they had the home video rights they would release them like they do pretty much every other show they get.

only these digital distribution rights. Its Cruchyroll that has the show due to the Kadokawa deal they had a while back.
