It's always nice to see new merchandise based on older franchises... so many shows out there that I'd like to get merch from without having to resort to stuff like garage kits.

Probably many manga fans in the Anglosphere including manga journalists who don't know much about untranslated manga have not read this 1970s manga classic, but I bought Macaroni Hōrensō and read it in the original. Actually, the name of the main character in question is Okita Sōji. Not Okina. The name of the Macaroni Hōrensō character Okita Sōji is derived from the name of a Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji, and the name of one of other main characters Hizakata Toshizō is a parody of the name of a Shinsengumi member Hijikata Toshizō. |
