I would rather it be delayed so problems could be fixed than watch a half-***ed show.

Welp, I liked the first hellsing dvds I have but I am hopeing this OAV will be much better and if I have to wait for I can wait. I'm not in a rush for it. But ,like v1cious said, if it comes to be delay after delay after delay like final fantasy:AC then it might not even be worth it to me. But,hopefully, they haven't decided to screw with us and delay it forever.

They delayed it because they exceeded the base running time of 35 minutes (bringing it up to 50 minutes), and need to touch up the animation so that the finished product if consistently high quality. They delayed it for a very good reason.

So the first episode will be 50 min. long? Well, it doesn't matter to me since I'll wait until Geneon release the OVA in the stateside. I REALLY hope they can get the original English cast back together.

Yeah, it's 50 minutes. That really should have been part of the news item...

50 min!? That's like a Hellsing mini-movie!
Now if only a miracle happens and Geneon releases it in the US alongside the Japanese release (or at least alongside the Japanese release of vol. 2).

I hope they don't try to sell this 50min episode for msrp of $29.99. The series will be too expensive and I for one would wait for someone to purchace it and borrow it or I might even resort to fansubbing. The things I would doo in order to save my money.

Yeah, but with episode 1 being 50 minutes and Region 1 DVDs running 3-4 episodes that could mean that DVD # 1 will have an estimated maximum running time of 120-155 min. This could mean a slightly higher price for disc 1 depending on the episode count.

Do you think those posters will come over to the US?

Edited x1 to clarify that I was talking about Region 1 DVD release.

There's only one episode per disc. Ignore what you heard this summer about two episodes per disc...it isn't true. I don't know why the Western media gave bogus info (AnimeonDVD, Anime Insider, etc), but they did.

Not too surprising. It wasn't expected until next year anyway at AX. December was a bit soon anyway.

If you can find where we said this, please source it because I don't recall saying it and I can't find it in the news listings where it says that. Anything we posted about it came either directly from Geneon or from the Japanese retail listings.

It wasn't meant as a personal attack...

This was months ago...if you can't find it now (and you probably have a better chance of finding it than I do), then it's either gone or you never said it in the first place.

Like I said, it showed up on the internet at some point and spread to several websites, including ANN. I think it might have been in Anime Insider as well. It just kept spreading and pretty soon the whole Western fandom was mislead. I might be wrong in saying that AnimeonDVD reported it. I probably am since you can't find the news item. I retract my statement. Sorry. Sad

I'm not saying you or anyone else lied, just that the information was false. It might have been because of a mistranslated interview, or a simple typo. It might have even come from Geneon.

Anyway, I recently reported that particular bit of info as an error in the encyclopedia, and it hasn't been deleted yet...if you guys (the ANN editors) want proof, just check out the official website, Japanese retailers, or even Japanese fansites covering the OVA. One ep per disc.

I also reported the running time of "35 minutes" as an error, since it isn't quite accurate. The base running time for each episode is 35 minutes, but they exceeded that in the case of this one. They'll probably be even longer in future. This is why, up until they reached 50 minutes as the finished product, the Japanese websites said the running time was "35 min.more" (35 minutes or more). I didn't enter a new piece of info because I'm not sure what the proper procedure would be for something like this. Should it say "varying; minimum of 35 minutes"? Once the episodes come out, you could add the individual running times.
