As this is about comics, are there any kind of similar stats for light novels? Of course previously that would hardly been an issue as you could almost count those on one hand, but last few years have changed that...

I think their might be. However, let's not forget that, outside of LN titles, manga might generally sell a lot better than LN here. LN titles like "Spice & Wolf" probably are deserving of some sales stats.

I wonder what the demographic increases look like, and how they compare across publishers.

I've been kind of disappointed with ShojoBeat lately (lol, more than usual), and I'm wondering if the offerings at other publishers are picked up in comparison.

It's interesting to see how the industry is growing though, in terms of how many publishers there are, what kind of series get picked up, and what makes profit.

These include digital downloads as well?

Well, manga sales in 2007 peaked at 220 million dollars so today's level of sales is quite small. In fact, it represents only about 12% of the US's comic book market.
