I'm really really hoping this is true.
From what I recall, ReZero was leaked days before its anime adaptatation announcement in 2015.

The question is could something potentially as big as Index III ever not be leaked or "mistakenly" posted?
Part of the reason I never believed Index III was to be announced in any of the other previous announcement windows. Seems more plausible than ever, just need to wait a little longer it seems.

Wow it was that long since season 2 huh? I was thinking it was more recent, but that was Railgun S in 2013. Hope this is true though.

I will wager it's funding and writing talent. It's been years since the last Index. Audience for it is still there, but franchise is aging and tastes of media have changed. I wonder if producers for this property are wrestling if they want go for it or not.
I mean, you rarely see a 24 episode series anymore. Which was done with Index, now a days, you get standard 12 series + 1 ONA with manga. Some gone down to 10 episodes, or shorten entire episodes to 5 minutes? 10 minutes?
I wonder if it's something to do with format as well.

I need this to be true.
I mean, they wouldn't randomly make an Index/Virtual-On game for no reason, right? This is probably why!

What do you mean, "rarely"? There's always a bunch of 2-cour animes every season.

Almost like the crossover novel itself was popular with both fandoms by itself and SEGA needing to whip out a new VO game.

Well it has been hinted for a long time that A magical index s3 has been always planned but it just never got green lighted yet.. hell a few months ago their was anothe article that said that a s3 will not be out yet but give them a little more time.
i hope it is the case that they finally decided to do it.
I never watched the show but it has always interested me and has been on the back of mind for a long time, but i have been hesitant as do not want to invest in a good series that will only leave with an unfinished story, i have been exposed to this to much and it is even worse when the series is so good. so yeah here is hoping it is true. if it is than i have ane xcuse the binge watch the entire show and its spin off.

YES YES YES! OH MY GOD!!!!
Finally Battle Royale and Acqua of the Back arcs animated!!!!!
Though I do wonder how many novels they'll adapt this time, I doubt they would be able to fit in everything from Vol 14 to Vol 22, they'll need Index IV to end the Old Testament, so either they'll end on Vol 18 or they will adapt Vol SP and Kanzaki SS and end with Vol 16.

In my opinion, Volume 15 is where the series starts getting really good, so it will be amazing to finally see this arc animated.

Honestly mate, its a waste if you dont watch it despite there is still story left.First watch Index S1, then Railgun S1, then Index S2 and as last Railgun S2. That is 96 episodes of awesomeness. You can watch the movie whenever after watching S1. Honestly watch it, I always want too rewatch it but I simply do not have the time for it.

Even this was from the production company and the creator, such a professional move could borderline on false advertising.
