I really hope this is worthwhile as a remake as the original Kino anime is near flawless as a series.

I don't even see a reason why I shouldn't watch this. Kino looks just as cool as she did in the original anime. Smile

I'll echo an earlier thought and say that this looks pretty good. I'll also reiterate what I said when this was first announced and say I'm so glad this is happening.

Is this suppose to be a reboot? I've never seen the original, but I've heard lots of good things about the LNs. I'm interested in checking this out, but if it is a reboot, I'd rather just wait and watch the new one where as if its a sequel I would watch the original first.

Oops, misgendered Kino in the first paragraph. "his" → "her"

No-one really knows, but there are signs that they will adapt at least a partially different set of stories.

Looks great, I'm still disappointed about the colouring and Kino's design looks a little off on a few shots. But apart from that, it looks great.

Judging by spoiler[Ti]'s presence on the main poster, this version will at least cover Volume 8 and probably more, as opposed to the original anime covering volumes 1-6. So I think it's most likely a sequel series focusing on newer books. Either way, the original is a classic with a legendary director that's well worth watching.

Honestly... I was disappointed with the PV. While I know it was probably more budget than artistic intent, the original's earthy, minimalist visual style helped make the surreal stories sink in better. This new anime's art style looks a little closer to the Land of Disease OVA, which had a brighter, modern look that just did not work for the series.
On the other hand... the dissonance between the cuter, cleaner style and the increasingly dark source material could work out. And I'm might be over-attached to the original. Can't wait for October to find out!

EDIT: Whoah, whoah, whoah, Yukie Sugawara...? Well, this'll be interesting... Confused

Hmmm, still not sold on the new art style, it just looks kind of generic and everyone has the same faces. I liked Kino's old design where she managed to look simultaneously wide eyed and curious yet also wise beyond her years. But more Kino is more Kino. Hopefully this show spurs someone to finally get those dang light novels over here.

It's definitely imagined in a more modern style, which I'm really not a fan of. The voice acting at least isn't too cutesy.
