I really enjoy Adam Wingard as s director and I've been a defender of this movie, but I'm having a hard time after this trailer. It looks like he nailed Ryuk's look and feel with William Dafoe but everything else looks meh. I don't know what to think anymore.

OMG, every time I hear Willem Dafoe in this trailer, I hear the fish from Finding Nemo. Anime hyper

I actually kind of like what I'm seeing? For an American production of Death Note, it looks competent! It's more action-based, but it may be saving the mind tricks for the actual movie. There are some things here and there that make me question where this is going, but other than that, this looks promising. At least it looks like it'll be fun...

I am personally going to refer to this version as Dafoe Note.

Make that two followers.

The trailer was 'meh', except for Dafoe. My god, I did not realize how much I need that till I got it. Ryuk looks great. I would watch this movie for him alone.

Everything else isn't bad per say. I like the one moment with the actor playing L sitting like he does in the story; it gives me a feeling that if that if the creators took those details to light (no pun intended), they took the themes and ideas in the story as well. This movie could be pretty successful.

Nat Wolff, such a miscast.

The whole point of Light is how good looking he is and how it helps him. Nat Wolff, not very good looking guy.

Not bad, it seems like it'll be a fun enough movie. Has it been explained why they're still calling him Kira though? That's the only thing that's confusing me.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the film for Defoe alone. Still wish it was a series, rather than a movie though.

I wonder if in the Japanese dub of the film it will use the original voice cast from the animated series, the Japanese films or using a different voice cast altogether? The only thing sure is Shido Nakamura will not be able to reprise his role as Ryuk, as he already retired from acting.

I still don't like the main lead, but I'm loving Dafoe's performance.
