Not trying to be "that guy" or anything, but why do the Japanese even care this much about Steve Jobs to make a manga about him?

There are several. There's also "Steves", which features both Jobs and Wozniak, the latter of whom looks uncannily like Totoro.
It's not just Japan. Do you realize how many books in English have been written about Jobs? |

I review this one on MU, go read it:
A very important book and manga 9/10 I don´t think that i like Steve Jobs on a human level as he was a giant, but at least self admitted, bastard. I never owned an Apple product either but he is still one of the most important people of the modern age and i always liked reading about the man when he was alive. His bestselling and highly acclaimed biography this manga is directly based on is was a delightful read and now this version exists, with quality art by Mari Yanazaki. I am still surprised that no english version of any kind is available and that it is barely covered by tech sites outside of it´s announcement. Oh well. All my favorite bits are present as of volume 3 and the storytelling is top notch. Check out her award winning Thermae Romae too and the 1999 movie about Jobs named Pirates of Silicon Valley (8,5/10) that should be watched as a companion piece regardless what you think of him as hid did "put a ding in the universe". On the educational value: If you want to learn about tech and even American history then congratulations here is your manga. Buddhism and his drug experimentation is addressed and the Pixar portion should come later. The story how he had "90 Hours A Week And Loving It!" printed on employee T-shirts is in in too. Pick up the audio book and flip along if you can´t read Japanese. We need an HBO show based on the book as Halt and Catch Fire isn´t quite cutting it. The adapted book is a perfect 10/10 btw. as it flows better and my favorite biography after "I Am Ozzy". Where is that movie? Another manga named Steves by Big Comic Superior also exists. |

Well yeah, because he was born here and was an American citizen his whole life. Why would books written in English about him be surprising at all? |

Considering Jobs' important contributions to the computer industry (Wozniak and Gates I put in equal importance), Apple would be wise to have this as an e-manga.
