And how does this change that? The intention of the original work (the LN) can still remain the same. This VR thing is made by a third party company who bought rights to make a game without the original author lending a hand. Steins;Gate, which I see no one call waifu bait at all, had a slew of Kurisu related products with similar intentions, including one game with DLC where you buy a lingerie cat version of her. I personally don't consider Re:Zero all that great (tbh solidly average) but I still consider it a deconstruction. Rem's just a popular character and companies are going to use her as a means to make a profit. In unrelated news I'm shocked with Re:Zero's popularity no one has announced any home NA video rights. |
