Really good article, I still have School Days on my Queue and I really have to get around to it soon, same with Yozakura Quartet. I can agree on Hetalia though, it's pretty heavily flawed but it's just too charming for me to truly dislike.
I guess for my answer, I guess right now it would actually be Classicaloid give how much I love it and how much others seem to dislike it, but then again I don't really feel guilty about liking it, I do think it's genuinely great. I guess a more accurate answer and the show that always sticks with me with this question is Meganebu, no seriously. I thought Meganebu was hilarious back when it aired, plus I have a bit of a soft spot for glasses and it may have fed into that which may or may not have been the reason I loved it so much. I'm painfully aware that I am alone in this and that it does get really repetitive in this one joke but dang, it was just so campy and over the top I couldn't help but love it. |

I share the World God Only Knows, in that it's a show my attachment to outweighs its objective merits.
It looks like the Yozakura Quartet entry was specifically referring to the newer (2013) Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~. I wanted to watch that, but to the best of my knowledge, there's no (legal) source for that in English. Does anyone know if I'm wrong? I know the 2008 adaptation is available on The Anime Network. |

My favorite guilty pleasure...
Probably Prison School, KissxSis or To Love Ru Darkness (over-the-top ecchi titles with blatant fanservice at every single page/30 seconds of running time). I say that as I normally despise ecchi anime, and harem in general... and yet, I can't bring myself to hate these, as somehow, they are a LOT of fun to me lol Prison School I might even legitimately consider a very good thing, as the real plot is actually awesome and intriguing. |

I wouldn't consider it a bad show at all, either. I'm just recognizing that it has a lot problems that understandably turn other people off of the series, especially big fans of the manga. |

I can confidently say I don't have a guilty pleasure because I don't actually feel guilty for liking anything.
If we're talking bad shows I enjoyed regardless, well, there's too many to list |

So I am not the only person who genuinely appreciated Valvrave? I feel redeemed.

For as much as i love The World God Only Knows (the manga at least, i have the anime on queue), you will sound like an absolute mad man trying to summarize its plot to the average joe, lol.
My own guilty pleasure is Overlord. We are swamped with video game-esque Isekai light novel adaptations, and yet there's something fascinating about the "New Game +" protagonist and his transparently evil and yet absurdly loyal NPC henchmen. It has objectionable content out the whazoo, including some of the most blatant fridge death's I've ever seen, and a villain death that is shocking in its gratuitousness. Still, the animation is solid, the character designs are appealing, and the ongoing mystery behind the world is intriguing (but will probably never be answered, i'm convinced). It doesn't hurt that the LN and DVD cover art by So-Bin is gorgeous, and unlike anything i've seen for light novels. |

Dragonar Academy. It's about dragons as much as it's about loli fanservice, and obnoxiously gropes as many female characters as possible with tentacles.
Now THAT's a guilty pleasure. Can't believe stuff like School Rumble was mentioned; those guys need to watch crappier anime |

I also liked Valvrave. It had some issues, but it was far from the hot mess people seem to think it is. |

How are School Rumble and Hetalia guilty pleasure anime??? One's a critical darling and the other is popular as hell! Not to mention Russia is my favorite character in the show - it's literally perfect.

My guilty pleasure would have The Irregular at Magic High School. as this was a series even the person reviewing it at Japantor pilloried in the weekly reviews over there which honestly they are hilarious. Along with allegations of Fascism and an seemingly wish fulfillment Marty Stu protagonist.
In all honesty I expected to hate it instead what I found was a series that having read the novels it is a flawed adaptation I can't help but love it from Yuuichi Nakamura's ice cold line delivery as Tatsuya to Saori Hayami as Miyuki being able to from sweet to literly and metaphorically chilling. Half the fun of the series other than the action scenes are the character interactions something the Anime didn't focus on that much but where there from Erika and Leo bickering with each other to Mari and her relationship with Naotsugu and Erika. It will never be a perfet series but I still enjoy it and if anything it ended my gateway into Light Novels. Honorable mentions include Shigurui, Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan, Magical Witch Punie-chan, and Astarotte no Omocha! |
