Haha, more like smart Engineering. Wink

The Age of Mechs has arrived!!! I give it 5 years until the first War Mechs / Gundams appear. (We know Japan wants to make a real Gundam. That or China beating them to the punch. Razz )

BTW, I like the article says to help Fukushima, but last I checked the clean up pretty much was done, except for the irradiated areas. Though would surely be helpful in future disasters. Mechs could easily be on scene to the critical areas faster than construction and emergency vehicles.

This is seriously way too cool. I honestly never would have thought I'd see actual mechs in my lifetime, but with the way science and engineering are going lately it seems like it could actually happen.

For better or worse, consider me excited either way.

This is more Patlabor than Gundam. Unfortunately for the mecha otakus there will be no need for a pilot to be inside.
But for Japan, to get help with a Robot from Korea would be a little bit too humiliating (it was bad enough that they had robots for everything, but non that could help in Fukushima).

We are nearing the centennial of the word "robot". Czech writer Karel Čapek (1/9/1890-12/25/1938) introduced the word "robot" (in the context of an artificial person). in his 1920 play, "Rossum’s Universal Robots". However, he acknowledged his brother, Josef (3/23/1887-April 1945) coined the term. The term itself, not counting it's Proto-Indo-European root, comes from Czech and Old Church Slavonic words that literally mean "cervee", "serf labor", or "servitude".
