A good performance for a film only playing in 122 locations.

It is very good for those standards: I've heard many of those locations even ran out of tickets to sell. They didn't give this film enough screens... but seeing how it's doing, hopefully they'll add a few more by next week.

As expected while Kimi no na wa will take this year the 1st place and Koe no Katachi should be the 2nd best one. Really cant wait to watch it.

Not necessarily since you seem to be forgetting things like the One Piece film among others. Think there might have been a Detective Conan, Doraemon and Pokemon movie in there as well.

Yeah, wish this had gotten a wider release. Though if they keep it in theaters long enough, I'm sure it'll do just fine. If GuP has taught me anything, it's that you can play a movie in theaters for pretty much however long you want, if there is an audience.

I'm really hoping someone will do a limited showing in US theaters. The sooner the better.

As far as I could tell on the box office websites Kimi no na wa is currently outpacing both OP and Detective Conan movies. I can't say about the other ones.

At least it's making a respectable showing at the Box Office I didn't care for what chapters I read in the manga but nice to see this didn't end up being a commercial failure. Critically I've heard wildly varying opinions

Kimi no Na wa will certainly be #1 but Koe no Katachi certainly will not be #2, it may be in top 20 among domestic movies.

I guess I'm the odd one here, but I never assumed Blackpoint was talking about box office totals. Since he said "best" rather than top, I figured he just meant those were his most anticipated.

Reassuring though this news may be, I have heard rumours of pacing complaints from theatre attendees. Have initial reactions been broadly positive across the venues?
