Why did they decide to change from 2 episodes per disc to 3 episodes per disc?

Well, it'll be 4 for the first disc, and 3 for the other 3.

Probably because people realized they were spending more for the 2 episodes per disc setup, and maybe ADV will go back and release the first season the same way.

I bet it had to do with the Japanese licensor requiring ADV to do what they did on the first season.

They probably recieved a lot of shit from fans retail folks. Either that or they finally realized it was a stupid idea. Personally I think they should release the last 13 episodes as 6 and 7 to make up for their idiocy and still try and keep the overall DVD count low, but whatever.

Wait... I thought it worked out to be less in the long run... 3 episodes per disc at 30 bucks is 10 bucks per episode... at 18 bucks a disc with 2 episodes it's only 9 bucks per episode...

Well, if it stayed with its 13 DVD release at $17.99 MSRP, it would have cost $233.87

Right now with 6 DVD's at $17.99 ($107.94), plus 4 at $29.99 ($119.96), this is $227.90.

If ADV had done the 1st season on 4 DVDs, this would have been $239.92 for all 8 DVDs, hmm... this makes it just $6.05 more

1st season had 5 DVDs with 2 episodes and 1 DVD with 3 epsidodes
2nd season will now have 1 DVD with 4 episodes, and 3 DVD with 3 episodes

Oh, and now I think this treats it as two seperate seasons.

That's some powerful crack they smoke @ ADV...

They really should have stuck to onetype of release. If they do re-release the first season on the standard 4-DVD way, then i might buy it, otherwise i'll keep waiting for Madman's (australian) releases.

Well, it's rentals for me, unless we get a brick style release...

It seems to me that the releases weren't well thought out. Sad

I don't know what you have to pay for the DVDs, but where I live it's $10 for one DVD on new release week then it's $12 after that. If it went for regular DVD price it would be about $20 for new release week, then about $25 afterwards. In the end the amount payed comes out about the same. Hell the starter box was $15, if it was regular price, it would have been $30.

Maybe DVDs are just more expensive where you are.

This is probably the most likely reason. The other likely reason could have just been ADV experimenting with a different release schedule and only experimenting on one title.

He was referring to the price sans discounts. Whenever you want to start making price comparisons, it's better to stick with the MSRP, since it's the maximum that an individual will wind up paying. While many of us are aware of ways of getting it for less, there are still those who will walk into places like Suncoast and pay full price for it.

Yes, because BestBuy is selling it for $11.99 a DVD, and the boxset for $15.99. AAFES is selling for $15.95 a DVD.

This certainly is an interesting way to get 10 DVDs out of a 26 episode series.. Smile.

Hey what's that sound I hear? It's the the sound of sarcastic clapping.

"Bravo, ADV!"

Should have done that in the first place. Laughing
