As unfortunate as this is, he died by natural causes at an expected age. Better than the usual cancer/unspecified illness that's been happening way too often.

Unfortunately, we've lost another Kingdom Hearts cast member in the same week. Thank you for having an impact on our child/adulthood, especially with DuckTales.

RIP

Sad to hear. Scrooge McDuck was arguably his biggest and best known role. Going to have to finally play the Duck Tails remastered game I bought last year... Embarassed

wish they could have made A Ducktales Remastered 2.That would have been a great send-off to him(as it had been confirmed the new Ducktales wouldn't use the original VAs.)

As tragic as his death is, I'm satisfied that it was through natural causes and not from cancer or other ailments.

Rest in peace Alan. Sad Your voice over as Scrooge McDuck was an awesome part of my childhood.

Wow, I didn't even know he was still alive. Then again I'm not sure if I had heard his name or not. But I think I had. I grew up watching 'Battle of the Planets' back in the 70's. When the show first aired I would rush home from school just to get in on time and plot my butt down in front of the TV until my eyes got tired. I lived in Florida at the time and I walked those long avenues to and from school. I never missed an episode of the show. Until the one day some upper classmen crossing guard wouldn't let me cross the street. Yeah the one time I get detained in front of my own house. If my great-great aunt hadn't seen me (as she was wondering what the hold up was) I would have missed the next exciting episode. Yes, Battle of the Planets came before my safety.

Yeah, I was a big fan of 7-Zark-7 and 1-Rover-1. Oh man I used to get a kick out that whole deal with his robot girlfriend 'Susan'. Oh, man talk about the sexual tension back then. Susan used to talk about how she somehow peeked in on 7-Zark-7 taking his oil bath. "Susan!!!" He'd say in embarrassment. Even as a kid I was able to put 2 and 2 together. Then you had the visits from Mark and Princess. And something always puzzled me about those shots. They barely looked anything like that actual footage used in the show. But yet certain scenes made it seem like 7-Zark-7 fit. Then I would find out years later that he was an addition to the show to censor the violence. Not to mention the extras directed at the viewers to tune in tomorrow.

Battle of the Planets aka 'Gatchaman' was an incredible show to me as I had never seen or experienced anything like it. Plus it was step up from the usual cartoon shows I used to watch. It still holds a special place in my heart. The same way that 7-Zark-7 did when I was a child. No matter who thought it was a waste.

Speed Racer was also on at during the mornings and Space Giants in the late afternoon, provided you could get channel 6 to come in.

Thank you Mr. Alan Young for the fond memories. I may not have followed your other endeavors but you and Battle of the Planets made my days of cartoon watching all the more enjoyable. You will be greatly missed. RIP. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Ed was my favorite show when I was a little kid, I'd fantasize about being Mr. Ed to Wilbur's character because it really struck my young sensibilities that a talking horse was so much smarter and sensible than his silly but kind-hearted "owner". Of course Mr. Ed was supposed to be a big secret and I loved how Wilbur would cover for his true abilities. I was also struck when I saw a rerun of The Time Machine as a kid to see "Wilbur" as the time traveler's kindly uncle. Since then I've tried to keep tabs on this adorable actor. I think of Mr. Ed's voice actor Allan Lane saying something like "Willburrr, don't leave me all alonnne" but sadly Mr. Lane died of cancer in the early '70's and of course the trained palamino horse "actor" died long ago too. Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:18-19 ...And I also thought "God tests men so they may see that they are like the animals, man's fate is like that of the animals, the same fate awaits them both, all have the same breath... Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?...Of course Jesus's resurrection shows us as it mentions in Romans 8:11 "And if the Spirit of Him which raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies... I hope Mr. Young had that.
