Wow..took them a week to change their minds? I wonder what happened.
I also have to note that
as a pre-order bonus is such crap. First, the Valkyrie Profile music was advertised on Japanese streams as a feature, not as DLC. So it's being removed from the game to be sold at a later time to people that can't afford to pre-order. The other items I don't really care about, but it's still like buying a cheeseburger after everyone else already bought theirs, but then having to pay extra for the lettuce that everyone else as part of the base meal. "Day 1" versions need to stop. |

Really, it just reinforces the "No PS3, no sale" mentality I have. I just feel like I'm down & being kicked in the gut anymore when it comes to new game releases.

I'd say it's a bit unreasonable to expect companies to support a console that's already nearly 10 years old and has anemic games sales for mutiplatform games that still come out for it. In 2010 I don't remember hearing anyone expecting Star Ocean: The Last Hope coming out for the original Xbox (2002) or PS2(2000) . (There were those who wanted it on PS3, which it did a year later). It's obvious from the number of games that saw PS3/PS4 releases but only PS4 releases in North America that companies see it more worth their time and money to release games on a console where they have the potential to sell well. Anyway, I look forward to getting Star Ocean 5 when it comes out although I have no idea when I'll get to playing it with my game backlog. Lots of good games coming out this year. |

Ah, yes, the wonderful world of Day 1 DLC, where basic features are stripped out of the game and relegated to the paywall to milk more money out of hapless customers...
On the bright side, at least Star Ocean 5 has dual audio; thus, sub-only fans aren't left in the dust. |

It may totally just be me getting old. The thing is, they already are making a JP version for PS3. I don't want to be naive and say that shoehorning the PS4's English translation over top the JP PS3 version doesn't take some significant amount of work, but when I'm here seeing tons of Koei Tecmo titles hitting both platforms with the PS3 release simply just going digital, I have to raise an eyebrow to other companies that put out multiple versions of a game & then only give us the PS4 version. I'm perfectly open to being wrong about it, but to me, it screams "Sony wants you to pay for a new console". ......and I'm just too tired and demoralised by everything to want to bother. |

Gematsu has updated their article (linked below) officially confirming release dates for NA and Europe, as well as Day 1 and Collector's Editions and prices.
http://gematsu.com/2016/04/star-ocean-5-launches-june-28-north-america-july-1-europe Should also point out that there's only 7,500 Collector's Editions that will be sold (don't know if that's US & EU combined or for each region). http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/04/04/star-ocean-integrity-and-faithlessness-launches-june-28-on-ps4/ |
