That would have been nice, if not for the fact that the game turned into a goddamned quicktime-event-slathered chore to play. So thanks a lot for that, Namco.
Ace Combat 6 might've had a hilariously overdone patriotic storyline, but at least the game was fun to PLAY!

And this is why I hate DLC. Weren't the previous YFs unlockables in the North American games as well?

Wasn't Namco's fault. Blame Project ACES and the fact that if it didn't sell well, it would be the end of the franchise.

If it had to sell well then they should have stuck to what they were good at. I haven't touched Assault Horizon since stopped playing it a few hours after I bought it, played Distant Thunder (AC04) so many times I could blow up Megalith in my sleep.

I stand corrected.
I don't necessarily want the Ace Combat series to die, but this is the kind of crap I do not want in the games I play.

AC6 never locked distinct planes behind DLC. Variants with modified specs yes, but actual plane/skin unlocking was mission based like every game previous.
