Nice to know you can get both versions. I guess it was inevitable.

The paranoia in me says that as long as both a cleaned-up original and the new version are both on disc, then everything should be fine, and ranks a definite buy (at a reasonable price, of course.)

I love GITS as much as the next guy, but man... let's stop humping that horse.

(Like I will not end up buying this, anyway.)

unless US version can match up the extra stuff like the booklet and original versions on blu-ray, which i HIGHLY doubt they will be released, i'm keeping the superior version...

I'm with icepick314 but not necessarily as a set. It would be nice if Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2.0 got a release. Not everyone was happy with 2.0 and they would at least have the original to keep them happy.

I didn't like GitS 2.0, it look like a waste of money to me.

Isn't Anchor Bay Manga Entertainment's distributor? Is Anchor Bay part of the Starz Media team as well?

Gosh I hate those companies.

Anchor Bay has done a ton of good for horror and cult film. Disliking them I don't think is a real good stance to take as a nerd. They remastered everything and released a high quality product unhead of before. They became slightly lamer after they were bought out by Starz as far as their release schedule goes, but why, why would anyone hate Anchor Bay? Rolling Eyes

The Japanese Limited Edition blu-ray was excellent. It included both versions of the movie (subbed & dubbed) and an extras disc (no subtitles) in beautiful box. It was well worth the month. I'd say spend the extra money and get this one. Japanese blu-ray has the same region code as we do here in USA.

Yes, it's owned by Starz Media. Anchor Bay is apparently the high def division now according to wiki (ymmv).

I'd like to see what this new version has to offer indeed. Means I'll have to get myself a Blu-Ray player soon.

I agree with you. Unfortunately it doesn't seem that this is the case, here and only the updated version will be included?

Can someone confirm or deny this assumption?

But would you be willing to pay for it? Laughing
