Just curious to see how many animes/mangas people can juggle at one time. Right now I'm reading Monster and watching Mai Hime. I just finished paranoia agent, which was short. I'm looking for a number where I can juggle between a few animes to keep things interesting while not getting them mixed up.
I think 2 animes and 1 manga is managable. Never tried 3 animes though... at least not 3 completely series. maybe 3 ongoing series at once is fine.

Oh dear, my numbers are quite a bit higher, at least when it comes to manga (though I know there are other people who are more into manga than anime who can match mine).
For anime, I fluctuate between 0 and maybe 3-4 at a time, depending on whether any of the series I'm watching are current Japanese releases and thus I have to wait a week or more between episodes. I usually won't watch two complete series at the same time, with the exception of when I watched Lain and Azumanga Daioh at the same time, because I needed some fluff to fix my brain
For manga, I am currently reading/collecting 12 series. Because I'm insane.

I'm watching like 8 shows right now, at a pretty terrible pace. I should really finish at least one of them...

I don't really have a set limit right now I'm at 25 various series that I'm either actively watching or am on hold with an intention to eventually complete.

It depends, as for me I watch an anime when it released by a fs. Whether I feel watching a series, I would definitely watch and finish a finished series on a marathon. Except of it is epic, and/or higher than 50+ surely I would be tired watching a lone series and a headache if it is only on a same genre.

I do a lot anime-related on the Internet so I don't usually get time to watch a lot of anime although back when I was 11, 12, 13 and such I usually watched one anime at a time. Two tops. I'm way behind currently so I might have to step that up a bit.

I try to only do 2 or so at one time. Of course, if I'm watching something that is being released such as Death Note then I watch the new volume when I get it in addition to the 2 other series I'm watching. I try to keep different series straight in my mind and want to remember what happened last time. Plus I review what I watch so I have to take notes.

At any given time I'm probably following 15-20 anime series and 3-5 manga titles, though I usually watch/read stuff volume-by-volume (or episode-by-episode in the case of fansubs and TV broadcasts). That doesn't count numerous American comic books, either. I've always seen doing only one or two series at a time as pointless given the time lag between getting episodes/volumes, and it isn't that hard to keep track of things; if I forget where I was in a series or what was going on, I just go back and rewatch the previous volume/episode before going on to the new one.

I keep a list taped to my DVD cabinet door of all the DVDs I own but haven't watched yet... it currently consists of about 100 DVDs, over 28 series/franchises. I'm pretty random about watching things... sometimes I just go willy-nilly and grab whatever, sometimes- like now- I decided I want to cut the list down and focus in on specific titles. When that happens, usually the shows with the least number of DVDs left get watched first.
(I'm hoping to get it down from 2 pages long to 1 page soon. )

I try to limit myself to three or four series at a time. Its easier for me to stay clear on the stories. Plus I rent a great deal of my anime. I can finish a series faster and remember what's going on by only checking out two at a time. Add to that the couple of fansubs I'm following right now, and I have about all the anime I can handle at one time.

Generally at most 3 series at a time, but I usually focus on one and watch the other two when I want a break from the one I'm focusing on.
Oh, and I try not to watch any anime that's not done yet.

Right now I am watching five different anime series. Three on tv, one through Netflix and one I am buying and watching as I get new dvds in. As for manga, well I can tell you that I am reading far to many right now. I am collecting five different series and I have six or so that I am borrowing from a friend as she buys them. The manga is quite hard to keep up with, I have a amazon.com list to keep track of what I need to buy next so that helps some.

I use to watch several at a time. That would include fansubs and dvds, but now I only watch one series at a time. I don't progress through them very fast either. It took me 2 or 3 months to get through Paranoia Agent, which is only 13 episodes.
