The one's who get beaten up for doing nothing, the one's who live lives full of nothing but misunderstandings, the one's who never get noticed and when they do, they get beaten up for it, but when they're on the screen we just can't help but laugh at their misfortunes. Here's my list of the most hilariously unfortunate people in anime.

Harima from School Rumble: He just lives a life of nothing but misunderstandings and awkward situations: I mean what other guy get's in trouble just because a girl walks in on him trying to find his swimming trunks and ends up having to teach her to swim. I can't help but feel bad for him but I can't help but laugh at the messes he gets him self into

Canada from Hetalia Axis Powers: Listen, this guy as a obnoxious douche bag for a brother who lives next door to him and when he get's in trouble they automatically mistake Canada for it. He has a bear who doesn't know his name (which is ok since he doesn't get the bears name right most of the time) and his only friend (besides his pet bear Mr. Kumajiro) almost always mistakes him for his brother and beats him up for it even though he didn't do anything. The only good thing i could think of that has happened to him is that he told off America in the manga, but as for the anime, well.. His life sucks.

Pedro From Excel Saga: He's probably the most unfortunate guy I've ever seen, he dies in the first episode and comes back to life, he gets taken home to his home country (he was working in Japan so he can make money to send home to his wife and child.) and you think it ends up with happily forever after? WRONG! His wife leaves him for his best friend, he's a ghost now so he can't confront his wife, he dresses up as a fortune teller and his wife says to his face that the person she married is her only love and she no longer wanted Pedro. He gets caught in a bunch of misunderstandings and somehow ends up being made into pudding and sent down into a lake to drown, but he still doesn't die! I don't remember most of this since I haven't seen the anime in a long time but I'll just go out and say that this guy's story is so sad it's hilarious.

So who do you think is the most unfortunate person in anime? I'd love to see your responces and oppinions. Anime smile

This would perfectly describe Hayate the Combat Butler's titular character, Hayate Ayasaki. The guy has the worst luck of most characters I've come across in anime where as talented as he is serving as Nagi's butler and attracting enough girls romantically interested in him, he quite often finds himself in the most ridiculously inconvenient and sometimes life-threatening situations when doing the most mundane of activities. His backstory is just as inconvenient having parents who care more for blowing millions of yen into debt than their own son to the point where they tried selling him off to yakuza before meeting Nagi. Not to mention that Hayate's naivete with sensitivity to the opposite sex usually leads one of his admirers to try wanting to beat him senseless or putting him in embarrassing predicaments.

well there is always Seina YAMADA from Tenchi Muyo! GXP. He is so unlucky that the space police use him as an anti-pirate weapon.

So, refresh my memory, how many times DOES D get collisioned/trampled/launched, etc., by express-train A-Ko on her way to school, in the first movie?

(Giroro and Dororo from Sgt. Frog, however, do not count as "people".
And let's be honest, Godai did eventually get the girl. Smile )

I'm surprised that Kamijou Touma from A Certain Magical Index was not listed first. He is so unfortunate that he himself completely acknowledges it and even shouts out his misfortune all the time. Fukou da! Anime hyper Granted, it is thanks to his spoiler[Imagine Breaker] that causes all of his bad luck. But hey, at least he can kick some ass and tries to have a positive attitude about his bad luck.

This isn't a main character or anything, and in fact I can't even remember this poor boys name, but in Strawberry Marshmallow there is a boy in class who is constantly sent out into the hall. Correct Ana, into the hall. You know the answer, your a show off, into the hall. You don't now the answer, into the hall. You did nothing? Into the hall.

It had me cracking up the whole time.

Let's see, there's Ayumu Aikawa from Is this a Zombie? He is the king of the accidental accident incident. He loses points for being the title zombie so he can die on a regular basis so he can get hit by a truck trying to save a cat, lose all his clothes and have his naked picture taken by random girls passing by.

That's just the first two minutes of the first episode. By the end of the first episode he gets his picture taken again, by his classmates this time while's he dressed up in a frilly pink magical outfit. His shame hasn't bottomed out yet as they creators of the work keep topping what happens to him.

And then there's Keitaro from Love Hina. There's always Keitaro from Love Hina. The whole series is built around "how will Keitaro lose today?"

Sunohara, from Clannad. Most of the time, he brought it on himself, but it was still amusing. Razz

I was gonna say Sunohara! He's had a lot of misfortune, but nothing beats getting kicked multiple times by spoiler[Tomoyo] multiple times. Very Happy

Besides Sunohara, another unfortunate person in anime would be Yuji Sakamoto from Baka to Test to Shoukanju. So maybe yes, he does have a lot of crazy antics, but if he were a real person, he'd long be dead with spoiler[Shouko poking his eyes or using taser on him every episode].

Oh poor Hayate, you would think someone who can ride a bike as fast as a car would have an easy time, but no the universe has it in for him. Even the simple tas of getting a box of pocky, or working in a store, seems to change the universe in some way to mess with him. Love how he almost becomes friends with those "very nice people" at the worst possible time, and spoiler[trying to escape causes the "nice people" and body guards to be out for his blood.]

The #1 spot has to go to the majority of anime girls who are surrounded by things calling themselves "guys" who can't even muster enough courage to look at them, let alone talk to the girls.

How... unfortunate for everyone.

Just about every childhood friend in romantic comedies. Always finish last, and get left out of love in the end.

Sunohara is the one of the few times that bro side character type is actually not only useful, but endearing. I've seen tons of anime where that character needs to be eradicated from the face of the Earth, and he's usually voiced by this guy.

Jerid Messa - Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: Dude never gets a break despite getting some awfully spiffy toys (60 ft tall death machines) to play with.

Ashton Anchors in Star Ocean EX.

He's originally from a game, and his Luck stat is actually stuck at 18 because of how unlucky he is.

Played with a lot in the anime adaption.. constantly getting smacked around and injured and made a total butt monkey out of.. maybe a little too much, honestly.
