Waste of money on a dead franchise.

I'm sure the few hardcore Highlander freaks (there actually are cons) will love this news, but I could care less. I liked the TV series when I was a kid (though it couldn't hold a flame to my love of Hercules and Walker ) but the concept has been milked dry.

I'm also kind of surprised they picked MadHouse, cus this one screams Gonzo.

My guess is that they only wanted someone to animate it. Usually when Gonzo does an adaptation, they have creative control (unfortunatally).

So long as it has The Sean, I shall be satisfied.
I am Juan Sanchez Villa Lobos Ramirez, chief metallurgist to the King of Spain, and I am at your service. Classic. |

There was a short lived Highlander animated series for a while. The only thing I can remember was there was an episode where people had barcodes tatooed to their heads and at the end they all got names. Hmm... I wonder why it didn't last longer with plots like that.

I think my idea was good. Hopefully it's not another MacLeod. I believe that would make it the fourth one to be immortal.

My father is a hardcore Highlander fan, so he might be willing to get into this one. I thought it was an interesting franchise. Is it popular in Japan at all?

It was a kids cartoon. I think they only defeated the other immortal (rather than cut off their head) and they turned MacLeod into a stupid teenager. Since I was watching the live action one and had seen the movie at the time, I didn't watch too much of it. |

ERRRGGHH! Of all the movie franchises in the world, why Highlander?!? The first movie was ok, but the sequels got worse and worse (The Quickening,Endgame and especially the next demension) even the Television series was a bit redundant at times. (In almost every episode; Adrian Paul lops some guy's head off and is struck by lightning. )
This news made bode well for a friend of mine who was a huge fan of the Movie/TV series, but to me it's a waste of Madhouse's talent. |

*grins* Since I've been a Highlander fan for as long as I can remember, I give a "HELL FU*KING YEAH!" to this. I can't wait. Maybe we'll get some lovely, animated Scotish bishi for once in an anime.

I concur in regards to your idea, but i'm sure many will probably see it as yet another-Samurai/Fuedal Japan-"been there, done that kinda thing". Still a good premise and i'm a bit tired of the Super Uber undefeatble Mc leod. So was the writer of the last Highlander flick.spoiler[End Game: the "Mac" not only lost in a duel with Adrian, but loses his head as well. ] Maybe Madhouse can actually make something cool out of this cult franchise,we shall see. |

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you... I eagerly await Beastmaster: the Anime and Species: the Animated Series. |
