3000 Leagues in Search of Mother
aka Haha wo Tazunete Sanzen Ri
aka From the Appenines to the Andes
aka Marco

Haha wo Tazunete Sanzenri is about an Italian boy, Marco, and his journey in search of his mother. Italy was in a deep depression, so to support her family, Marco`s mother went to Argentina to work as a domestic (like Piccolo`s sons went to America to work in Porco Rosso). But after she wrote to her family that she was sick, her letters stopped coming. So Marco decides to go to Argentina to look for her. Marco has to travel across Argentina to find her, meeting many wonderful people, and encountering many adventures during his journey.
anime#436

I have recently been seeing this series. Its a vintage classic, part of the World Masterpiece Theatre shows that used to air in the old days throughout Asia, Europe and South America.

I must say, this series is something else. Right from the first episode the story takes off. Every scene and every episode has a purpose, either to se the mood or to further the tale. Its been directed by Takhata Isao of Studio Ghibli fame and Miyazaki was involved in the layout. Everything about this anime is so perfect. Whats intriguing is how Takhata shows everyday early 19th century Italian life in such a beuatiful and interesting way, something which makes you hooked onto the show. Takhata also made some revolutions with this series and Heidi, in that he brought neo-realism to Japanese animation, something which was not observed before. Its not licensed, but L-E is doing it as one of their projects. You can also buy the DVDs and LDs from CdJapan and Yesasia.

For those who haven't yet seen this masterpiece, I recommend you check it out. For those who have..thoughts?

Firstly, I'd like to say hello. This is my very first post, so bear with me!

I actually signed up because I was looking for a really good online shop that sells this anime and the rest of the World Masterpiece Theatre ones, as they're my favourites.

The problem is I've had no luck finding any in the format I want: NTSC, region 1 (or 0).

I used to watch this in Spanish when I lived in South America, and got a hold of a legit copy of the entire Marco series in Spain, but it is PAL, region 2. Just recently I've been trying to get those copies into NTSC, region 1/0 format, but it is rather laborious, so I've opted for purchasing the Japanese one with English subtitles just so I can watch them on my TV; the problem is I cannot find them anywhere!

I've tried looking in the online retail thread and have had no luck.

Does anyone know where I could get them in NTSC, region 0 (or 1) format?
