Well, in case you haven't heard it already, Oh My Goddess will end its 10 year comicbook run after the "Sora Unchained" arc and go straight to trade paperbacks. In addition, they will no longer be flipped. Any other information on the new format (size, price) is unknown.
Personally I'm happy. I believe that they will be a bit cheaper now, and will be released faster, hopefully catching up with the Japanese releases (we are 10 volumes behind). Right now, Darkhorse has yet to announce weither any more of Studio Proteus' works will meet a similar fate, but I'm sure that some will (if 3x3 Eyes doesn't we will all be dead by the time its finished). Now people can't complain just because Proteus flips their manga, and they still are going to have the best translation out there.

Oh, wow. This is great news. I love Oh! My Goddess, but I've been kind of broke lately, and was delaying buying the rest of the series due to the high price.

Maybe I should sell the ones I have now before people realize that they're going to be rereleased cheaper.

Twisted Evil

Just curious, where did you hear about this?

There were some rumors recently, and a day or two later one of the DH manga editors came onto the manga forum and made it official. I'm not sure if they have made an official announcement yet, but its definitally legit news. But definitally do what you can to catch up. OMG! is one of the rare series that gets better with age (my personal favorite volume is 16).

Anyone know if they're going to start rereleasing the older Goddess manga unflipped? I'm just now getting into the series and haven't been able to find a good source for the early volumes near me. Crying or Very sad

Yeah, it was annouced at Sakuracon they would do this. Actually there was talk of another comic line that would start over and be unflipped and in order. Seems things have changed again. Oh well. I'll just get the new paperbacks and be happy with those.

From what I understand they will be reprinting the older volumes as they publish new ones.

There are 28 volume published in Japan. In the US 18 have been published, and they're almost finished with the final comicbook arc, which is enough matterial for volume 19. I don't know if the format change will effect the release date of 19 though.

Having Oh! My Goddess going straight to paperback is extremely good news, and the unflipped is really nice. But honestly I kind of hope that they will keep the size of the manga the same, partly for aesthetic purposes on my bookcase Wink and partly because the artwork is worth the larger size. Hopefully we will also be seeing a price drop for the manga as well, and I could probably tolerate the 'standard manga size' if the price is in line with the rest of them on the market.

further to my previous question, on the inside cover of the dark horse books it lists the contents source. some give volume numbers and others give details of other sourcess of the chapters. do the DH books arrange everything chronologically. or what.

Looks like volume 19 is going to be $18.95 and released in January. The ISBN is 159307316X. You can find in on B&N <--I'm always afraid of linking on this forum.

So I guess it's going to be a while before the format changes? Maybe 19 will be the last large format high priced volume.

The Sora Unchained arc has just ended in comicbook format, so it would be pretty stupid to not release the old style trade paperback when they went to all the trouble of flopping it. So I guess 20 will be the first one in the new format.
