Shame that with Bandai out of commission, the chances of seeing this released outside of Japan is now pretty damn low.

I hope KyoAni has a heart and puts English subs on the JP blu-ray...[/unlikely].

Hey, they did put English subs on all their boxed releases like Clannad, Haruhi and Lucky Star, so it's not completely impossible.

Still, buying the Japanese BD release either way. Being an slice-of-life show with few show-specific terminology, my Japanese language proficiency should already allow me to comprehend at least 80% of it.

...all of which had their English subs taken from previously released American DVDs. Since no English language release of the K-On movie will likely exist prior to the Japanese BD release, I wouldn't expect anything. It's not impossible, I suppose, but very very unlikely.

(Also, just for the record - KyoAni just makes these shows. They don't sell them. Whether or not the BDs have English subs is probably out of their hands.)
