first off just incase your thinking this....Im not talking about 50 cent, eminem, chingy, or nelly.....im talking bout true hip hop
would you think this would be a good mix i have been working on creating a hip hop based manga style comic but would you think it would even be a good idea??? |

I read about a saumri anime that'll feature hip hop in Newtype recentaly. Afterwards, I felt like starting a thread entilited "God, are you up there, because YOU'RE A MORON! (Hip Hop in anime)". I think you can guess how I feel about this, but with Hip Hop's growing popularity, it was inevitable *sigh*.

I've said the same thing to my roomate (who is very religious) and he always responds with, well God has a reason. I rebuttle with "REASON!? REASON!? I don't much care for Hip Hop, I would dare say I hate it, in any case, if a Japanese creator did a Hip Hop anime, it would probably be a bombastic parade of over-the-top cliches.

I don't necessarily think that it would go well with something dramatic. But if you throw some hip hop into a modern tale that has a good dose of comedy, and if it was appropriate to the story, it could fit very well. Like anything, it just has to be done "right".
By the By,
Just what is true hip hop? I'm very curious. On the subject, I think something from OutKast, Dialated Peoples, Jurasic 5, Blackalicious or anyone kickin' it with Sway and King Tech would be the best choices for anime soundtracks. Well, it could be cool, but not if it's a story about some misfit who tries to become a great rapper. That would just be sad...

i love hip hop but i hate that its become popular...true hip hop is stuff that isnt on mtv or bet but im not goning to explain it because if you dont know what im talking about then there is no reason to explain to you im not talking about a japanese guy doing a hip hop based anime. im talking about an american who has "lived" Hip Hop. . id be double offended if someone in japan did it who doesnt know anything about it. i see alot of rock based anime. why would that be accepted but not hip hop? |

True Hip Hop? You mean underground mixtapes, battles, and stuff like that, right? As for not letting them do a Hip Hop anime, well, you're right that it would only be fair, since they have so much rock based anime (although the only one that comes to mide is FLCL), but a Hip Hop samurai anime. It could work but depends on how you go about it. For a samurai I would choose wu-tang clan.

Hip-hop in anime sounds cool. I listen to alot of hip-hop, but I never listen to Japanese Hip-hop before.
Does J-Hip-hop or J-Rap sounds like America Hip-hop or Rap? |

well first off....Hip Hop is more of a culture...rap is the music i didn't mean about samurai hip hop anime(that souns wierd) i mean a manga style comic that has that hip hop feel to it thats what I've been working on and i just want to know do you really think if that would be accepted you might not know it but a large amount of people that are into Hip Hop are also anime fans |

I gotcha. Ya it would work. A manga about the getto or somthing like that, focus on daily life of teen and/or teens with some hip hop influences.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. I can't belive I've never figured that out, especally since I'm 'bout the age to know about things like this.
If you can make it great, and not corney (don't do racial sterotypes, it's destine to suck if you put racial sterotypes in it), then it will be accepted, but you'll have to pull a hat trick on this one.
I shouldn't be surprised, considering its popularity. |

my story has a mix of all races doing very different things
