I really loved the anime so I was wondering if I should get the movie "Knockin' On Heaven's Door". The reviews I've read kinda wavered.

yeah, if you like the series you should definately check out the movie. The movie makes for a good watch even if you aren't a fan of the series.

Yes. Like Onmyoji says, it's a lot like the series. To me, it's just a 2 hour long episode. Get it, if you like the series, that is.

I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop movie more then the series. It's one awsome anime and worth the money. Get the movie and have fun watching it! Animation, music, story and characters are plain awsome.

Yeah, it defenitley does add something. But you really don't learn anything new about the characters though. Like what most people say, it's just like an extended episode pretty much.

I guess it all depends on what exactly you like in Cowboy Bebop. The artwork is undeniably excellent, so if that's your main draw you might actually like this better.
I didn't give it a great rating because I have to admit the story didn't really draw me in, and that's a big deal for me. I'll also note that you shouldn't go in expecting to see anything more about Spike's background with Julia or Vicious, if that was one of the things you were hoping for in the movie.
If you take it as a very long stand-alone episode without too high expectations, you should like it well enough or even consider it a must-buy.
Incidentally, it's still at my local video rental store. It might very well still be at yours too if it's a decent size.

I think we all sound like a broken record already, but I give the movie the thumbs up. Actually, I saw the movie first, and thats how I got into the anime seriese and the manga's. If you like the idea's that make Cowboy Bebop, there's no reason for you not to get the movie or atleast rent it.
