What was the name of the first Lupin III animation? Was it a movie or the TV series? Just curious because I just watched the secret of mamo which was really good and I wanted to see the series from the beginning

It was a movie. The Castle of Cagliostro.

Actually, the original Lupin TV series debuted in 1971. The second (the one that runs on Cartoon Network) debuted around 1977. Cagliostro premiered in 1979.

From what I know though it has to be one with Lupin with the green coat because from what I heard, in the first ones Lupin had a green coat

Ok, since I've been curious and it's been brought up here; Is there any reason that his coat changed from green to red?

Actually, Castle of Cagliostro (which was directed by Hayao Miyazaki) came out after "The Mystery of Mamo". The original TV series came out in 1971 and consisted of 23 episodes. There's also a rarely seen pilot film which was maid in 1969 and a live action movie which was released in 1974. Allegedly Monkey Punch (Lupin III creator) said he preferred the red jacket. |

I've only seen the second series as well as the Castle movie. I've seen screenshots of the first series, and its animation is very diffrent, even the character designs are diffrent |

In the first TV series Lupin wore the green jacket while in the second TV series he wore the red jacket.
In the Castle of Cagliostro he wore the green jacket because Miyazaki illegidly believed that the red jacket was too low class for the more soft-hearted "gentleman thief" he wished to portray. On a side note, Lupin also wears a pink jacket from time to time.

I prefer the green jacket. Lupin is also in an elite class of males who also includes Bret "the Hitman" Hart, who can pull off wearing bright pink.
