They are killing anime! Turning them into happy noncense!

They totally screwed Yu-Gi-Oh! And I hear that they are taking one piece as well. Anime cry

This is becoming just horrible. I mean...why don't they just put all of the uncut stuff on adult swim or something? This is becoming really annoying.

Oh God...THIS again...

First off, you have no room to speak at this point. 4Kids and FUNimation have struck a deal whereby FUNi will release some of 4Kids' series uncut and subtitled on DVD. Yu-Gi-Oh! and Shaman King will kick it off and if they're successful, perhaps the likes of One Piece and Tokyo Mew Mew will follow.

Secondly, 4Kids' shows would not work on Adult Swim. Why? Because no matter how you look at it, 4Kids does kids' shows. They were kids' shows in Japan and they're kids' shows here. I don't want to hear one peep about Yu-Gi-Oh! being "mature" and "graphic" because you know and I know and the old lady down the street knows that's just not the case. Sure, the likes of Shaman King & One Piece would do well on Toonami, but I think it's a fair assessment that none of 4Kids' acquisitions belong on Adult Swim. Not to mention Williams Street's having difficulties keeping their current anime line-up afloat right now in terms of ratings, anyway.

Thirdly, the reason 4Kids doesn't release all of their shows uncut & subbed is that, as sad as it sounds, most of them don't have a market beyond the twelve-year old demographic. Do you really think there are enough older teen Pokemon fans to make a subtitled release profitable? Shaman King, One Piece, Mew Mew, these shows might be worth it, and 4Kids is pursuing that option right now. But most of 4Kids library would not fare too well with the older teen/young adult demographic, hence the "butchered" release being the only one around (li'l kids don't care about the rice ball being called a pastry). I don't condone it, but it's just business.

Fourthly...killing anime? Please. They only have about four shows that anyone above the age of twelve really cares about. Four shows out of literally hundreds that have crossed the Pacific, I don't think 4Kids is killing anything.

Sorry for the rough treatment, but we've had enough of the nonsensical anti-4Kids hateboys in recent months. Nothing personal.
