If anime companies don't step in, DIC and Miramaxe will screw them up when they get their hands on them. And I guess FOX Lorber.(See live action Iria aka Zeiram.)

While that might be a possibility, I highly doubt it. Considering that movies probably make more than series, companies will be a little more careful about the switch to English.

"Yes - But only the Porn (ie: La Blue Girl Live Action)"
not what I chose but hentai turned live action is 80% comedy and 20% porn afterward. Namely Ogenki Clinic and La Blue Girl, thye're just so ridiculous.

There's a lot of adaptations that I've really enjoyed (Meteor garder/GTO), and some that've really sucked IMO (You're under arrest!). I'd certainly like better quality copies of GTO, and would probably buy em if they came out with a quality release. It really comes down to which company released em tho.
And licensing CAN kill fansubs. Tho it's sometimes ignored and fansubbed anyway, Many groups DO stop fansubbing it post licensing. Sometimes only fairly crappy groups with little QA continue, leaving us with crappy fansubs, and often crappy qa'd dvds as well. The worst of both worlds.

Doesn't suck for those of us with reasonable quality standards and an ethical obligation to pay the artist for his work.

Yes, it's so horrible that American Licenses give us legal releases. Yes, it's so horrible that American Licenses make it harder for people to be theives and leeches.

But they would dub it in English. Because the public at large doesn't want to have to read while watching TV/movies.
Another note: Why would American companies license live action adaptions of anime when they're not licensing other Japanese movies/TV for the U.S.?

Exactly, because once an anime has been legally licensed, the only reason why someone would still grab the fansubs is to say "Screw you i'd rather steal it!"

why would they want to? because the titles already have mind share and free advertising of a sort from the anime release. I'm sure most of their sales will come from fans of the anime. I highly doubt they'll get very many sales outside of that market. I doubt they'll outsell the original anime, but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't make money..
And they ARE starting to pick up more and more japanese movies, just very slowly.
