The manga does go past that the "ending" of the anime, but I don't think Viz's release of the magna has reached that point yet. Probably not until sometime next year....

Yeah, the manga actually finishes the series. It ended this year in Japan, I think, at 56 volumes. Viz is releasing them (one every few months) with vol. 35 coming out in October this year, so if you wanna finish the series you should probably get caught up with the manga, even though it might take a few years to finish translating to English.

Yeah it definitely passes the anime. The anime ends at the equivalent of volume 36, chapter 356. Meaning theres another 20 more volumes of story after the ending of the anime.

I've been thinking about starting Inuyasha, but I don't really know anything about it other than the fact that it is a VERY big seller and a very long series. I was wondering if it was anything more than "Dragon Ball Z for Girls". Just wondering.

Inuyasha is shonen, but it does appeal to both sexes. Anyways, Inuyasha has very good story, characters, etc., but it seems that author didn't really realize that she was dragging her story beyond belief.

I'm sure she did, but if your boss and your fans keep telling/begging you to continue, you continue.

That's true. The same thing happened with Toriyama and Dragon Ball. But still, Takahashi has been in the business long enough that I think she would say that enough is enough when it feels like the story is dragging for too long. Well, obviously she did end up doing that. A bit too late, IMO.
I doubt that the fans would boycott seriously or anything if she were to have stopped it a bit early. I think that CLAMP has left some works unfinished and they still have a strong following.
