Aaaaargh I want to read it... Mac version plzzz...

Read the scanlation already actually, but the group doing it is seriously sub-par. I expect the official Jump version to actually be good.

I've already read the first chapter elsewhere on online, but I actually did enjoy this series. I am sure this series will be quite enjoyable from start to finish.

Wow, this is a surprise--four languages. Thank you, Jump! Very cool.
Just got the browser, gonna read it right this second. Hope it's good!

I guess it's suffering the same fate as Ral Grad, where we get dumped with it, 'cus the Japanese didn't want it. Laughing It must suck for those guys to be one-hit wonders. [I'm not sure if I count Hikaru No Go as a hit for Obata, since the character designs weren't as big as those in DN.]

Just finished reading it, and I have to say, I really liked this first chapter. Very Happy

I'm definitely going to follow up on this series.

Unfortunately, I doubt this new series will acheive the same popularity as Death Note. It just appeals to a smaller audience (or at least I think it does).

Where it says for a limited time only does that mean the manga you can download and view with their browser will no longer be able to be viewed after that date (like DRM?) or is it just that you'll need to pay for the chapters they put up after that?

Free manga? This whole website is new to be, and kind of odd. I don't see anywhere you have to pay for it.

*shocked*

It will be cool if they extended this service to a huge variety of manga, or at least all Jump series, for a cost of course. Though, personally I'll only ever be reading manga from a book, I think, though the thought of reading manga on a huge LCD widescreen suddenly has become quite appealing. But of course if it was upscaled professionally for specific resolutions.

just finished reading it. it was pretty good. I thought it was funny how they mentioned Death Note.
and I like how it's very different from DN(although the splash page made me lol. I hope that when he's drawing it won't be all dramatic xD). I also like that it has slice-of-life in it.
btw, I found some spelling errors! 8D

Wow, this website is very cool. When did this happen, Jumpland being localized into other languages?

Also, I really liked Bakuman; it was very heartfelt. I guess only chapter 1 is going to be uploaded? Kind of sucks that this whole free manga thing is going to end after August 31...

After you close the Jumpland manga browser, the manga chapter file you were reading is deleted from your PC. But if you make a copy of the file before you close the browser, you'll be able to keep the copy even after the original file deletes itself. So as long as you download multiple copies of each chapter, or just download one copy and make a few copies of it yourself, you'll always have a copy available. Of course, all the files might just delete themselves or somehow become unusable after August 31 or something anyway, which would make this all irrelevant...

And it doesn't seem like this is going to be a pay service. They want you to buy the graphic novels.

Also, besides Bakuman...

Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Death Note...They're all featured prominently on this site. But so is D.Gray-man...Is D.Gray-man really that popular/good, like in the same class as the other manga on the site?

This is a great move by Shueisha to pull in readers of all languages to their latest manga, Baku-man.

More manga companies need to start posting some of their work online in all languages. It attracts more readers outside of Japan who need scanlations to understand new manga.

Baku-man has potential and it could spawn a manga artist/writer craze, ya never now. Ohba-sensei's art is awesome, some of the best out there imo.

I like this on multiple levels.

First, I like the story. It's is so self-referential! I can just imagine this duo sitting down and saying, "Well, what should we do next?" "Why not write a story about ourselves?" Anyway, it perfectly captures the minds and dreams of a lot of Junior Highschoolers in Japan.

Second, I like this idea of releasing manga online in multiple languages. I hope this keeps up!

Huh. I was going to check it out, but there was only a link to download soem proprietary browser thing. I guess I'll stick to the scans. When will people learn, don't put unnecessary roadblocks between readers and content.

I for one really enjoyed it! I hope it gets a stateside release. To me it looks very promising although the marriage thing was a bit much.
