They just tacked on "The End" at the end of the volume. The reason I'm bringing up Ikki is I don't see any planned release for a volume in 5 in Japan, either.

Sad - I've been enjoying it - but not surprising. I don't suppose it sold a great deal on either side of the Pacific.

Yeah, it had a pretty horrible sales rank on Amazon, so I'm not surprised.

It's possible, but I just checked the previous volumes and they all end with "the end."

If Viz printed 'Final volume' on the back, it's their final volume.

So...is it cancelled or not? I have been wanted to start reading it for a while now. I tried ordering it in my local bookshop, but they said there were no listings for it, so I was planning to get it online instead.
Now I don't know if I should or not....

That happens all the time with series that only see a new volume every 6-12 months.

I'm pretty sure they've printed "Final Volume" on things that weren't when they actually canceled them, like with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? I seem to remember other people complaining about that one.

Yeah, like the new volume of Vampire Knight was only recently put up on Amazon, even though #13 came out in October. So we went through about a 2 month period where there was no new volume listed for VK, even thought it's definitely not a series Viz will drop.

Jojo's case is slightly different. Viz planned on only releasing one story arc to begin with, whereas the series like Gintama and Bastard!! were ended prematurely.

Tamaria: Yeah, but there hasn't even been a new listing for a fifth volume in Japan for over a year now. It may be an alternative publication, but not that alternative.
Zepys: Well that was the final volume of Jojo, as far as Viz was concerned. Unless the manga did well enough to go back to the prequels and sequels, of course. And Vampire Knight gets published as soon as Viz can get more of it. Or, if it's slow as hell on the Japanese end, they deliberately slow it down here, so the wait isn't as long.

Hiatuses happen. It may very well have been cancelled, but who knows? Was there a statement in the Japanese Ikki?

It happens to smaller series too. Depending on what else Ikki can get, they may want the series back later. Who knows? As long as the cancelation hasn't been confirmed, all we can do is guess.
