Okay...well, so far at least, none of the titles listed are ones that I'm collecting.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed though.

*phew* Sigh of relief that Tokyopop is not canceling Twelve Kingdoms novels, thank goodness.

What an odd mix of titles for ADV to discontinue.

Maybe it is something an simple as poor sales for the fore-mentioned titles, resulting in the cost of producing them was greater than the revenue they were (not) bringing in.

Well, if you had wanted any of them, you might want to get it now.

(Or wait to see if Funimation picks it up in a few months time) Wink

I'm just pissed that Boys of Summer and Battle of the Bands won't be continuing as they were pretty good OEL Manga!

Well, if ADV stops distributing "5cm Per Second"...
I guess it means they probably won't pick up future Shinkai titles Sad

Bad news.

Can't say I'm too surprised with Kindaichi being canceled given its sporadic release the last few years. It's a shame, now that Tokyopop has canceled my two favorite series (Kindaichi and Beck, likely GTO: The Early Years as well) I have no reason to purchase anything from them again. GOOD JOB.

5 Centimeters Per Second is the only ADV title there I care for and I already own it. It will likely be picked up by FUNimation, someone who would actually promote it.

Not necessarily. I mean, sure things look bad now, but time will tell. I imagine that after Otakon we'll all have a better picture of ADV's position. Also, they haven't lost the licenses for these titles, they've just stopped distributing. If/when things get better, they can always resume production.

I kinda wonder how many people were really interested in 5cm Per Second, compared to his earlier work. For me, it's the only Shinkai anime I haven't seen to my knowledge. From what little I know about it, it seems like the same old concept, which I've gotten tired of.

If this is a wider phenomenon, I bet most of the people interested in seeing it probably saw it in fansub.

Wow, I'm just surprised they stopped distributing "5cm per second". I would think that may have more mainstream appeal if marketed wider. Then again, I haven't seen any other Shinkai work and it sounds like "5cm" may just be a rehash of stuff he's already done. Still, it's a shame. I bought a copy and I've really enjoyed it.

Thankfully I already own 5cm per second. Everything else I don't care about.

I already own 5 Centimeters and Best Student Console (a surprisingly great show by the way), so I'm good.

A user on AoD noticed that 5 cm/s, Best Student Council, and Innocent Venus were among ADV's post-Sojitz licenses and weren't included in Funimation's pickup. So my guess is that ADV lost the licenses for those three shows at the same time that the rest of the licenses got transferred to Funimation.

I honestly hope that GTO: The Early Years doesnt get canned. Its the only Tokyopop title that Im currently collecting with Manga Sutra. The release schedule was moved up by a month to a quarterly release since volume 6. Hopefully they wont cancel it since their releasing it along side other Fujisawa works (GTO, rose hip and rose hip zero)
