As i've stated i am a 2-3 year old fan of getting into anime so classics are my strong side of knowing(or seeing). But does anyone like Saint Seiya. I never see it talked about on the forums. I was wondering if it was one of those filler one's or not interesting, or maybe just to old to talk about. Well i saw the first episode and it looked fairly well, so can anyone help me on those questions. PLease

Saint Seiya never caught on over here like Toei and ADV hoped it would. It didn't help things that ADV never released the entire series. Whether that's because of poor sales or licensing issues, nobody knows. From the forum posts I have seen over time, Saint Seiya is one of those series that's well-known and beloved in Central & South America, but virtually unknown in North American (or DVD R1) fandom.

Saint Seiya also aired in a few European countries in the early nineties. At least it aired here, in Portugal. And since my country does no censorship whatsoever (the final episode of Excel Saga aired just a few months ago on cable around 1 pm or so) the series was shown completely uncut. I remember it very vividly because I was a kid at the time and all the violence and blood really caused an impression on me.

Saint Seiya's been one of my guilty pleasures, and was one of my first introductions into anime when I saw the toys in a supermarket on a day trip to France twenty-odd years ago. But asides from the (frankly awesome) toys and soundtrack it doesn't have a lot to endear itself to a modern audience - it's cheesy, it has most of the cliched shonen tropes, and it still doesn't have an ending. The recent OAV's are absolutely top-notch, but they're for existing fans - it's hard to sell people on the final third of a story when they haven't seen or even heard of the first two thirds, no matter how much improved the design and animation is.

I live in Latin America and here Saint Seiya is one of the most beloved animes of all times. Every otaku I've met have watched Saint Seiya. We are more liberal with violence than Americans, the latin dub doesn't have any cut, I watched a lot of blood when I was a kid.
