Encycloepdia entry
I have to say that as I got to the end of the first part of the series, which was volume 5, I got HOOKED. Kurohime the series follows the adventures of Kurohime, a magic gun user who spoiler[was punished for challenging the Gods, and therefore transformed into a little girl named Himeko.] Travelling with her is a boy named Zero, who spoiler[she saved when he was younger. Since then he fell in love with her, and as the series has progressed, in order to break her curse she must find true love as well. At the end of volume 5, after their battle with the Shinigami God, Zero sacrificed himself to carry Kurohime across the river of acid. Even as he was melting away, his arm fell off, and everything else, his love for her pushed the boat all the way to the end. And the last glimpse of him that she got was him falling away into the acid. ]

After the first part of the series concluded I have found that spoiler[she has supressed her true powers for her love for Zero. However, as the enemies pursuing her get stronger, as well as the Gods chasing her, she has to make the choice of sacrificing her memories of Zero in return for her full strength to return, enabling her to eventually defeat the Gods. However, knowing how precious her memories of Zero are, she cannot bring herself to let those memories go. ]An unbelievably well concepted series, I would like to see how this one will turn out in the end.

fighter: Yeah, I admit I was initially intrigued by the fan-service, but the action genuinely kicks arse.

Oh don't get me wrong. The fanservice is definetly something I've enjoyed about the series, but the initial part of the story has also been very intriguing as well.

Meh. Read the first volume and it was alright, nothing special. I don't know if it'll be something I'll continue past that one volume or not, likely not. If so though, it'll be a while before I do. Of course I'm TOTALLY different from you guys, the fanservice is actually one of the things that puts me off about the series. Razz

Elric: I understand. Those up-skirt shots do get gratuitous, but the special attack are what keep the story interesting.
