The Anime encyclopedia has this little tidbit stuffed into it's information:
Why would Naruto's name be spelled in a female form? I doubt that the reason is only to play with reader/watchers' minds along the same lines as Haku. Maybe Masashi Kishimoto meant more by the Sasuke-Naruto kiss than he let on...

Umm... I doubt he had it in mind when he wrote it. Just like our own young male characters in animation, the Japanese do the same thing. The higher voices make it easier to pass off as a young boy.

Yeah, it's rare to find a boy being played by a guy seiyuu.
And btw, I LOVE Naruto's seiyuu. To pull off a character like Naruto really takes talent and energy. I commend her. If Naruto is ever dubbed, it'll be a sheer miracle if it comes even close to her perfomance. |

The more I watch and fall in love with the show / character, the more I agree with these statements. To dub the character of Naruto will be an INCREDIBLE task, right up there with the likes of Excel from Excel Saga. Naruto just speaks so funny with SUCH AN UTTER INTENSITY WITH EVERY STATEMENT... it's actually pretty amazing, at times.
